It is hard to break an egg..have you tried to hold one in your hand and squeeze? If you can break it, you have soft shells. If it takes just a tap on the counter to break the egg it is too soft.
Add calcium
You might need to change bedding in your nest box to dry grass clippings that is deep and will help to support the eggs a bit more if you have extra heavy birds. I have hens over 10 lbs that do not break eggs. But some breeds step on them and are not very coordinated and break eggs. Sometimes other hens come into the nest and disturb the hen, fights result in broken eggs. Isolation.
If it is mice getting into the eggs, or a snake, cat or what ever, kill them. Mice/chipmunks/gophers will chew a small hole in the egg, and than the egg emptys and the hen crushes it. Get rid of your egg eaters.
