Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Long time lurker...maybe I should weigh in a few conversations...

I'm originally from Cudahy, but now live north of Hwy 10.
Getting back to the Cherry question-http://imbibemagazine.com/Cherry-Bounce-Recipe
Cept I use vodka.

I raise orpington chickens in 3 different colors.

I've been to the township of Stettin.
& I've frequented The Northland Ballroom in Iola for many years.
My favorite drinking establishments are No Problem Bar & Grill in Custer,
Muddy Waters Bar & Grill in Prescott (tonite-Reverend Raven and the Chain Smokin' Alter Boys are playing)
& Lake of the Torches in Lac Du Flambeau.
Oh yeah, I've been to the township of Nashville...then hit The Town Pump in Rhinelander.

Seems I like to travel for different colors of peafowl.

So some of you guys may know me? Hmmm....

I'm just a bit south of Hwy 10 in Waupaca County near the Red Mill - Iola and Custer are not too far away but I've never been to the watering holes you mentioned. Nice to meet you Buffer!

Just Checking in....busy as heck around here! Welcome to the new folks. Hope you enjoy the cheeseheads. Good bunch of folks here.

Did you receive the pattern TO? Suzie was wondering.

Working on the shed addition at Camp. Full days swinging a hammer and wearing a tool belt is way to much like work....then all the stuff going on here keeps me busy.

I just caught up reading 25 pages...my brain is good and fried now...LOL!

Football is on...time for a cool tall one.

Have Fun....bigz

JJ, very good! I was looking at the pic on my phone so it was not very big..... missed the lack of the points at the bottom of the wings. Looks VERY much the same as a black swallowtail! Wish I would see some of those White Admiral butterflies up here.

This is a female swallowtail the kids collected as a caterpillar. It is always nice to hatch out your own insects for photographing, that delay period when the abdomen is pumping the wings with fluid makes it really easy to shoot the butterfly since they cannot quite fly yet. (And yes Amy, this was a fisheye caused by my cheapo editing software..... ;) )

If you need something to help de-tangle hair, those hair shine products work really well. I used Silk Drops when my girls were little, but any brand will work. It makes the hair slippery so it combs out much easier. You do not need to use much either so you save $ in the long run.

Evening out there! The butterfly discussion took me to Google where I spent a while looking at butterflies! I was an avid collector of insects as a child...many fond memories for sure! I figured out that the butterflies that I was IDing as MOurning CLoaks were white admirals (I think) I alwyas thought they were more brownish...then again I dont remember that well! The ones we see flying here that are the red spotted purple DH kept insisting were black swallowtails...yeah, where's the TAIL? Thanks for the pics JJ--kids are adorable as usual! So did D really just bring that butterfly into the house like that? He is amazing!

Yes BigFam...we actually do have cookbooks...they are used to cook FOOD for our families. WHat is it that you cook that you dont need at least a few? (macaroni and cheese doesnt count, nor do hot dogs!)

I like that lacing on your wyandotte JJ! I have one...not so good! Speaking of not so good...what in the world is up with that Buckeye????? WHat did she get in with? There are Ameraucanas next door, nothing with extra toes though...what is that one in the bottom of the pic? She looks like some I have too.

Hard to be a workin' stiff again hey Brent? good thing you are retired! And yes, I did indeed get the pattern...filed it in a good place and totally forgot to send a PM! Please tell Susie thanks a bunch! I will post a pic when it's done...dont hold your breath though...my average time on a X-stitch piece is 2 years!

So DH must be having a "man-crisis" (again) This weekend he cleaned out more of the barn and made a shelf for a receiver and hung some gigantic speakers; then stole my supplies to make shelves and such for his junk. Took my plastic shelving unit that I bought for gardening stuff and put his tools on it! Yes, I was ticked! Not only did he work on that all weekend (without doing anything else) he took my accumulated stuff to do it with! This is how I work...I obtain things a little at a time--rummage, St Vinnies etc. and when I get all the stuff I need I put it together. He is more...head to the store , buy everything, use a little of it and say it is done kind of guy. Needless to say I was a bit ticked when I found that he used my supplies and wood to make shelves! Now I have to start over to make the new roosts for the birds and the new shelving for the garden shed!

Not happy.

I heard that it was going to rain tomorrow...I am wondering if Cuties is still coming to camp? Havent heard differently...doesnt look like I will have hay to unload but heck, we can go into the barn and have a barn dance with the "new radio"! That might be fun!

I am getting pretty tired here...guess I oughta head up to bed...took a ride with dd27 to Fondy tonight; she had a volleyball game. THe other team never showed and didnt call....I got to play though! We just had a scrimmage type thing. Man I am out of shape for sand volleyball!

So slepp tight folks! TerriO

My grapevines and apple trees are just loaded! A very good year for fruit! I don't know what kinds they are as they were both an epic fail last year. I got 4 mealy apples and one small bunch of grapes - I let the deer and birds have at them.
I hear ya, Irish! My pear, apple and plum trees are loaded this year too.

Must be making up for having nothing last year with those late frosts?
hu.gif
Last spring (way too early), my trees were just loaded with blooms, but those frosts in May killed darn near everything down here too. All we got was a handful of raspberries.

Wow, pretty impressive with the cookbooks VickyW !!! I wanted to go to the Jennings thing but I didn't get up and going til 2pm. My neighbors that invited us to go to the Elcho Fire Dept fund raiser went to Jennings and the same thing happened to them. You might have been standing in line with them !!! Tall guy with short wife and adorable little boy !!
I babysat for him today. Got down there at 10:50am and didn't get home until 5:47pm. We got 374 bales of hay off our field and sold the neighbor 512. So a grand total of 886 bales. Not bad for not fertilizing, liming or killing weeds. That's why we sell him what we do. He doesn't care what he feeds the cow that he just got and he resold 100 bales to someone that has goats and sheep.
I stay out of that. All I care about is getting my field cut, getting some of the best hay... the south half of the field... for my horses. So all said and done I paid $.38 a bale and my field is cut. Hopefully we do get the rain we need and maybe with any luck we'll get another cutting.....
fl.gif
Really wish I had the money to redo the field.....
So after they stacked the hay on pallets I had to drive to Rhinelander to get some tarps to cover it. Sure would be nice if we had a barn !!!! Lucky you TO !!!
So ET was helping the neighbor plus two other guys helped out....one being the guy who bought 100 bales.
I'm in love with the little neighbor boy now !!! I kind of was before today but now we are better aquainted. He did settle down for a nap after he konked his head on the wall twice !!!
hide.gif
Can't believe how durable those little guys are !!!

So that filled up my whole day. Found out the guy who bought the hay from my neighbor has goats, sheep, a pig, ducks and chickens too. He feeds his chickens organic feed and still only charges $2.50 a dozen..... have no idea how he can do that... but he is only feeding one rooster....I liked him until I ut he eats his animals !!! LOL
ET is still out there covering the hay... hope he does a good job, suppose to start raining tonight and rain for 3 days...

Brought Taco Bell home for dinner.... now the diet pepsi has me wide awake.... So I'm a wide awake tired person !!!! Why in the heck don't they have any diet caffine free soda at these places???? Geez !!

I WAS JOKING!!

nice find though.

Is anyone here interested in making their own laundry soap? We do and it works great and costs less than 1/5th of detergent from the store.
I've looked into it, but haven't started. I know Delisha makes her own.
JJ...love the slw pair... 4 h bound with those at some point? And I am jealous of that sweet boys long lashes... How come the boys get those, my dauter hates combing her hair. We buy industrial strength conditioner for her hair!!!
Recommeded shampoo & conditioner for anyone that has long hair is Mane & Tail and you can get it at F&F!!!!! A friend of mine has 3 girls with hair past their butts. She had looked for years to find something that would get their scalp and hair clean, but detangle. It might be worth a shot.

Well, its seems that my hen has indeed decided to stay broody, so I am getting some SLW eggs from Delisha and light sussex from Colton. All should be here by Saturday (I have to arrange a time with you Vicki to get the eggs). I've got to do some research on what I should expect as far as behaviors, etc out of her, I just haven't had the time this weekend.

HI All!

momg... I have 3 of the cheap round ones, I would love to have 1 good dehydrator!

Twizz... OUCH!!!

vicki.....I got the page with the book, now I ave to figure out what format I want it on.Thanks!

JJ.... pretty Birds and nice pic of son and friend! And the girl that takes after daddy! LOL I'm not sure what I'm going to use those feathers for right now, but hang on to them. (see what I say below) I've been making my own laundry soap for about 8 or 9 years now. I've been making mine dry. Works just fine for me!

Irish.... Thanks for the link!!!
Buffer....Did you see my posts about wanting feathers?

PM me please!

cs... Humm Mane and Tail.... I used that years ago.... I should get it again! I did like it when I used it, then they came out with some copy-cats.

I'm talking to the owner of the shop today/mon. about what he has in mind and what he would like me to do, (no comments from you know who(s)! LOL) as far as feather items go. He does many shows, fairs and art shows. Interesting guy though a bit odd.
roll.png
He owns 3 businesses now. Not shops, he has a few of them, but businesses. And he's a craftsmen! If any of you watched the TV series "Charmed", he mad all the old, fancy books in the show, even the girl's "Book of Shadows". Kinda cool! Anyway, I will know tomorrow night more of what he will buy.
Tanks Again to those willing to help me out!

Can't find the turkey hen that was brooding in the berry patch.
idunno.gif
No pile of feathers and the eggs are still there. If they were fertile they were due to hatch this week!
barnie.gif
I didn't see she was gone until a little before roost time and the eggs were cold! I thought she was hidden well enough that a hawk wouldn't get her. Just don't know.

Guess that's it.... Night All!

I reread my reply about the butterfly and I am sorry if I came off like a douche. Didn't mean to, and didn't notice last night. It must be time to adjust my Ahole meds. We have black swallowtails here too. I like this photo so much I saved a copy to show the boy. Do you think the magnifier is on the camera lens or between the camera and subject?

TO- We are of like mind on the pile up bargains and freebies for projects. It was a sad day when the township switched trash companies to one that requires all the trash be inside one of those big green barrels for pick up. Craigslist is also a gold mine if you are patient, and willing to haggle some. I am a little over budget on my new coop. should be around 800 for a 10x16 with nest boxes and plywood inside on walls.

My little "beast master" has caught, and brought in the house nearly every kind of critter that runs loose out here. When the woman from the enviromental center down the road showed him how to catch dragonflies w/o harming them, we were being showed 6 per day for weeks. It's tough explaining to him about private property and boundries, and how some people are more interested in their bushes not looking jumped in than they are in the bug you just saw. Especially, the people we only visit because they are having a rummage sale.

Who knew parenthood was going to be so much fun.
