Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Lol! JJ I took that photo! No magnifyer was used, I gave the pic the fisheye effect in my cheap software program. And I was not offended. :)

CC, think you will have ripe pears by the 18th? :D

Looks like rain outside.... I hope!!! I better pick up the lawn chairs. Then it is coffee time!

Mellie is too b- itchy to be offended over that little thing JJ. You gotta really go over the top to get her going... ;-)

I want free fruit from CC! But that would mean driving there to get it, doing something with it once I got it, and I just have no energy for it! So ill keep dreaming of fruit not from a foreign country or gmo or covered in chemicals...

I'm tired I worked last night. But I have to get up because the oldest is a camp counselor at a day camp mon - thurs for the next 2 weeks. ( for the curious, it's called Kids Ranch out of Lone Rock). I'll have to make sure he's moving and such in time for his ride.

I have 2 others at church camp this week. So I have such ideas of major projects in their rooms!!! I don't know if it will happen though. Projects get started and not finished and that bugs me worse than never starting them!!! But at least I will, for the next few days, have a significant in crease in quiet and a reduction in fighting. You have no idea how I'm looking forward to that. Honestly!!!!!!!!!!

Frenchie, I will take all three please! I really like the friesian cross.

HA! BF, they way things have been lately just about everything is setting me off...... way too much stress load since they eliminated my boss. It makes for crabby work days. All of us are trying to keep a stiff upper lip as they say, but we are all under the same stress load so eventually you crack. Right now I need to smooth some ruffled feathers on Wed when I go back. We need to get along or this is going to be even more miserable than it already is.

Actually what I really need to do is quit, but there is no one to give resignation papers to.

JJ, my kids and your kids would get along just fine. They catch everything too, my 14 yr old DD would catch bumble bees starting when she was 4...... and was never stung either. We would have little bug catchers filled with angry bumble bees. I would make her let them go in the evenings though so they could get back home and not starve to death.

Time for another cup.....

Good morning, one cuppa down,,

CC Peaches ??It is interesting how a few miles south can make such a difference in what you can grow and we cannot..

We can grow berries, though.. Raspberries are just past their peak.. Soon blackberries will be going strong.. Annie has picked a handful already,,

Cind, ever see a cat toy made from 3 feathers ? My DS was buying them for $5 each, they lasted about 2 weeks,, Now he wants to make his own.. I didn't even know he had a cat..
You take one 8" feather like a goose wing flight feather, and attach a couple of smaller fluffy type feathers to it..

One of our guinea hens has started to sit on a nest right next to the path to the GH.. we decided to let her be. the dog walked within a couple of feet of her last night and she didn't budge.. and the dog payed no attention to her, either..

One of the turkey poults escaped the pen and ran into the burning nettle patch.. Annie waded through it , but couldn't shake it loose.. so I sent the puppy in.. I was surprised that he did what I asked of him.. It took only a minute and he had the poult in his mouth.. Annie was right there and took it from him, all wet, but unharmed..

one of the poults twisted it's leg real bad.. I had to chop it's head off..

I transplanted the two renegade grape vines yesterday.. IDK if they will make it, but at least they are where I want them to be.. May they RIP ,, The skeeters about ate me alive .. There is one good thing about winter..

I got Ollie to pop a few times,, I think I blew a head gasket.. JimP said he could come and give me a hand fixing it..

Today Bro Dave is supposed to bring a bunch of 2x4 here for me to make him a portable kayak stand.. It is supposed to rain, but maybe we can work between showers.. I suppose we could do it inside the garage , if we have to, I guess.. we do need the rain, though.. it takes me over an hour to water the corn with the hose.. and then, I don't feel that is enough..

have another gosling hatched yesterday.. that makes two healthy babies.. never expected any to hatch..
also hatched out 16 more guineas.. gave them to JimP..

Morning everyone!
Darn rain missed us again!!! Just a few sprinkles earlier. Our Apple trees are loaded too. Looks like Apples and garlic are going to be our only good crops this year. Vines died back early on the potatoes for no reason other than weather. Dug em yesterday but was hardly worth the effort. Even the zucchini isn't producing, who ever heard of that??? I must have conservatively 30 pounds of plum tomatoes that aren't going to ripen. The plants are loaded but the nights have just been too cold. If the nights won't stay above 50o it doesn't matter what the daytime temps do, things just won't grow and our nights won't warm up and no signs that they are going to. If we don't get a good rain soon the wild berries up here are going to be a loss as well.

Talked to my truck farmer where I get (and a lot of other folks too) my canning cukes from at the farmer's market Saturday (cukes are STILL a couple weeks off up here). His farm is down near Antigo and he said he has been talking to his grain farmer neighbors and they're starting to plow their sweetcorn under because they know it's not going to ripen and and if the temp forecasts thru the end of the month are correct the field corn doesn't look like it's going to have a decent cob out either! He said its looking so bad up here that the dairy guys are looking at chopping the sweet corn for silage.

Well since we are not going to get the rain we were hoping for I need to get busy. Darn little "3 amigo" pullets got out of their nice big "play yard" twice yesterday and went on adventures before I spotted their escapes. Both times I thought I figured out how they got out and fixed it, guess not. Good thing they're so tame the little stinkers easy to round up. Kids.

Got the chick coop done, just have to paint it. Chicks should be here tue- thur!!!!

Have a party here for one of my bros. Busy day.

I've looked into it, but haven't started. I know Delisha makes her own.
Recommeded shampoo & conditioner for anyone that has long hair is Mane & Tail and you can get it at F&F!!!!! A friend of mine has 3 girls with hair past their butts. She had looked for years to find something that would get their scalp and hair clean, but detangle. It might be worth a shot.

Well, its seems that my hen has indeed decided to stay broody, so I am getting some SLW eggs from Delisha and light sussex from Colton. All should be here by Saturday (I have to arrange a time with you Vicki to get the eggs). I've got to do some research on what I should expect as far as behaviors, etc out of her, I just haven't had the time this weekend.
My long-haired daughter LOVES Mane & Tail.

We got some much needed rain last night. YAY!!

Try slathering on some Skin So Soft (Avon) before you go out into the skeeters - it keeps them away from you pretty well.

Can't wait to see the pics, Colton!

Good morning folks...tonight is the great campout! Yeah...and it's raining here...I hope it dries up or the Cuties Clan will be sleeping in the barn! Good thing DH did all that cleaning I guess (even if he did use MY STUFF!
somad.gif
) I guess I should go and get that fire started today...might be tricky with wet stuff so best to get it dried out. They want to do pudgie pies and all the other campfire foods too. Should be a good night!
HI All!

momg... I have 3 of the cheap round ones, I would love to have 1 good dehydrator!

Buffer....Did you see my posts about wanting feathers?

PM me please!

cs... Humm Mane and Tail.... I used that years ago.... I should get it again! I did like it when I used it, then they came out with some copy-cats.
I have the dehydrator called "The Big One" (no comments please) It stacks a bunch of trays on top and the bottom one is supposed to get dry first then you take it out. I never had too much luck with it. The only thing it made really well was fruit roll-ups...too much work!
Got some nice feathers yesterday Cind...I will get an envelope from the PO and get them sent.
There is a gigantic bottle of Mane and Tail in the shower basket. I guess my daughters must use it too. It must be just on occasion though, there has got to be 15 bottles of various shampoos/conditioners in there! I actually think the bottle is out of the horse trailer...it is definitely horse sized!

I use that for the horses too! Watered it down a little and spray it on them. Works for a little bit but they sweat it off pretty quickly. I might try it again tonight for the campfire...the skeeters are not too bad here ATM. I hate putting the chemical stuff on anymore! I used to use the Deepwoods OFF! with 100% Deet on myself and my horse. I liked it because it didnt smell...even kept the deerflys out of the horses' ears!

I was that same kid BL and JJ. THat is all I did when I was a kid was catch bugs and stuff! I always had them as "pets." My favorite were grasshoppers and crickets. I had a tank of crickets in my room. Drove everyone but me crazy with their singing! For the grasshoppers I made little terrariums in Mayo jars. I changed out the leaves every day as they ate them. What a weird kid! I had my own shelf in the garage for my "stuff." Many fond memories of the hours spent in the fields with my net and in that garage! Then at 14 or so when I had some $$$ I moved to birds and reptiles...and its been getting to be a bigger hobby every year!

Better get to it!
TerriOonceacollectoralwaysacollector

(PS) CS, the best advice I can give you about a broody is to just leave her alone! They usually know what to do!

Cind--I hope it wasnt a raccoon...had one do that with a bunch of goose eggs and the goose. The next night he came back for the eggs. THen I got him! (actually HER)
