Oh Danny Boy, you are so funny !!!! Don't tease those poor southern folks !!!

On that note, do you have any red tomatoes or did they die along with the skeeters ???
All my beautiful tomatoes are not dead but on life support for certain. The plants are huge but the fruit stopped growing. Worse, we went to town yesterday and on the way I could see the first trees starting to turn, sigh.

good morning,  It takes me two and sometimes three games of freecell to load a picture to byc.. and even longer on a regular email..  I start loading the picture and then switch to Freecell for the duration..   for regular emails,  loading is the last thing I do,  then I let it run and I go about my day and come back in a couple of hours..  I love technology ..

TerriO, your DD might be moving, but I bet she leaves the cats behind..  Outside cats never go on the counter tops..

I have 2 goslings and a peachick living together in a TV .  they are due to be transferred to a larger pen, but I do not have the facilities for small batches..  well, I do, sort of, but the head room is low for the geese,, ya know, they grow so fast..    well, maybe by the time they outgrow the small brooders, the chicks in the big brooder will be old enough to turn loose..  just in time for the next batch of guineas ..

Annie had a 24 hour shift..  she got done at 9 AM this morning..  her ***** will be dragging for sure.

JIM - are you on a dial-up connection?

Doesn't look like I can get birds from Terri after all

it's a timing thing. Oh well, I've begged her to remember me in the spring

Vicki, if you need someone to get them up north, I could get them from Terri and get them up to the Townsend area, or get them to Frenchie any time that works for you. Maybe Sandi could meet up with Jim in Antigo or somewhere on one of her excursions? Just throwing that out there. I'm not too far from Terri. And I would love to meet up with Terri & Mel if at all possible.

Sounds like fun!

We took a bike ride up to Mackville yesterday for DHs family reunion. 240 miles round trip on the bike, and amazingly my keester survived.
lau.gif
The strange thing was, I was colder on the ride up (11am - 1pm) than on the ride back (6 - 8pm). Shoulda brought my chaps, though. Oh well. I was just glad to be riding. I wasn't sure if DHs knee would be strong enough this soon after injuring it, but he did great.

I just hope we can get more riding in this year. Winter is just too darn long. Right Jim?

Data can be skewed.

Our climate patterns have been tracked for such a short period of time one cannot make the claim that we have concrete data backing one theory over another.

Do we need to curb pollution? Absolutely.

Just like the Evolution theory, you will have skeptics and believers.
unlike evolution, the skeptics of climate change are bringing about the extinction of our species sooner. The choice between what is right and what is easy is always difficult.

I hope I do not live long enough to say I told you so. My grandchildren may.

I tried really hard to not comment on this. The term Global warming will come up next winter and next summer, and the winter after that. What a great name the polluters put on it for the conversation to be about if it exists instead of what could have been done. I do not expect anything to change the minds of the doubting flock, nor do I expect my flock and I will change our minds either. unless our shepherds tell us to.

And yes I can see down the fronts of your shirts from up on this soap box. Very nice.
lol

Yes Sandi, I would love your recipe for apple pie shots, please. I have lots of apples on my trees this year, and DH got me a juicer last year!

Hi again--just having another cuppa before heading out to my garden...gotta check on those ground cherries! As long as it rained, I should be able to dig the post holes for the extended part...the Heritage Hubbard that BigZ gave me is growing like crazy! The vines are over 12' long now and are waaay out of the garden! Good thing I planted them at the edge or they would have shaded it all out by now.
If anyone wants the recipe for the apple pie shots just let me know and I'll post it. It calls for apple cider and apple juice so the season is approaching !!!
Well THIS is just a silly question! DUH! Post it already woman! I love that channel on TV that shows the oldies too. I watch quite often when at work cause that's what many of my clients like. We watched M*A*S*H the other night...so many memories of being a kid/young adult and watching that! It is on ME-TV here. This morning my client's wife gave me 5 or 6 DVDs of Red Skelton. I cant wait to watch! We loved it as kids. I am going to give a few to my other guy too; he had a Red Skelton card on his fridge. I guess our performing theater in town had a guy doing his comedy. Would have like to have gone...it might be today.

As long as they are on life support...I guess green tomato chutney, fried green tomatoes and green tomato pickles are in store for you this winter!
My Mom always called those early turning trees "Back To School Trees!" My daughter and I saw a couple on our horse ride the other day and I mentioned this to her too. I love fall...actually August hasnt been too bad either (this year) The kids are hating it cause they havent been going to the beach too much...usually they live there for this month!
JIM - are you on a dial-up connection?
I always wonder too...he must be cause mine load in less than 30 seconds here! WHat do you have up by you Vicki? We dont see a whole lot of pics from you either!

I guess I am going to make some beef soup for dinner...feels kinda like a soup day to me. I sure wish that barley didnt have gluten in it! I used to LOVE barley! Perhaps I will try adding buckwheat...might get that little chewiness from it.

Hey everyone! Hope you all are doing well!!!! Haven't been on in a long time. Been very busy with my kiddos and my Dad. My Dad's Leukemia returned in May, after being in complete remission for only 2 months. He went in for treatment in on June 10th. His immune system never was able to rebuild and he developed a fungal infection in July and wasn't able to fight it off. He passed away July 28th, with my Mom and I by his side. He stated when he was going in to the hospital that he had a feeling he would never be going home. Unfortunately, he was right.
As this is all going on my chicks have grown up. We found out we have a couple of roosters. One of which I still have and desperately trying to find a home for as I cannot have roosters where I live. If anyone is interested in a white polish bantam rooster with some black spots, please let me know. I have to find him a home immediately! If you are in the central WI area, I can meet if you would like. Thanks so much!!! I cannot wait to catch up on everyone's chicken adventures!!! :)
