Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Sclark, I hope they asked for her Vet's # so they could verify what she told them....... ugh how frustrating! You did the right thing though. I know it is a tough decision to make, but you did the right thing!!!

Now, are the inspectors going to really follow up on what they specified ? I wonder.. they usually dibble and dabble and it takes for ever to get things cleared up,, and in the mean time the animals keep suffering and die.. where is the back bone in those people ? Oh, they have to give them a chance to right things.. BS !! they had their chance.. did they check with the vet to see if she really took the dog there ? I'll bet not !! If they catch someone with a lie, then that should be the end of it.. take all the animals away,, right now !! and no more animals in the future , either.. jail time for failure to comply..

I am not saying it never happens.. what you might have had, was a hen in the way lower end of the pecking order who wouldn't stand up for herself.. were the attack chickens full grown, or juvies ??

geese juvies will do that to newly hatched/younger goslings.. it is a jealousy thing.. they are protecting their own well being with the flock..
chickens normally go not have this strong of that urge,,

a crowded place can cause such a reaction.. even with larger chickens.. if they cannot run away, they are doomed...

Mob mentality at work!

I agree 100%! You did a good thing for both the animals and the owners. MAYBE this will be a wake-up call for them!

Vicki, you should have the vet show you how to express the anal gland.... it is REALLY easy..... and it would save you some $ and trips in... Terri, what time do you think you will be finished? We can always meet up someplace or you could stop by. It would be great to see you and you could check out my postage stamp yard..... Cuties I take it that is a bee sting? OUCH! My daughter took it upon herself to make her birthday cake....... curse you pinterest!!!! ;) Each change in the frosting represents a change in the cake color as well...... so you get that ombre effect throughout the entire cake. I hope all that food coloring does not make us sick!!!! Alright miss grumpy pants. We are still waiting for pics of these amazing chicks you have purchased.....

It's more than just expressing the gland. Think I mentioned one time that I worked as a vet tech like a million years ago so I know how. This one showed no outward sign of a problem and she showed no unusual sign of needing it and had never had a problem before. There was major damage done when this thing "blew" and the wound needs to be kept open so it drains and heals properly and regularly checked by a professional for any signs of further trouble. We're trying to get things to heal properly from the inside out to avoid needing to remove the gland which.is a whole other can of worms. This is a great vet and she's doing everything possible to keep the costs down (like booking the follow ups as tech instead of vet visits).

Jelinek.....Sorry about you dad.
Thanks Cindlady!

Wow, that must have been so hard to be so sure he was ok and then be was gone.. Again, so sorry. I have CML. No cure for me but the drugs are working great to keep things under control. Sweet of you to ask

Yes, very hard thinking that he is ok and my boys can grow up with their Grandfather around. Now my oldest asks for him on a daily basis. Its been a whirlwind last month. On a positive note, I am glad that you are able to keep things in control! That is fantastic!! Do you get treatment in Wausau? If so, if you don't mind me asking, who is your oncologist?
