Silkies..and I would say those are perfect for kids for 4H

I have 8 Silkie eggs under a broody now. I am hoping for more white. Well actually Joe has the Silkies.


He needs a bath, but Silkies are great pets for kids. His head is filled with FF

Speaking of SPAM, I can remember eating it a lot when we were kids..... and then my parents decided it had gotten too expensive!!!! I still liked eating it...... I'll have to get a can or two and introduce the kids to the Wonderful World of SPAM.

I think we will be stopping by the mushroom store on Tuesday. How does that work for everyone? Any specific time work????

We have a gorgeous white silkie girl too, my black girl is ok and a handsome young blue roo. 4h is not too accessible for the clover buds, but we are trying o find more contacts.
We love I likes but were devised they are one of the toughest breeds with good feather quality, and keeping them clean....but we love them so still a consideration! Was thinking bantam Cochin or bantam amaracauna.

I do not have Bantam AM's, just LF. I have no idea what the disposition is on the Bantam variety. I am showing the LF shortly and I worry about how high strung they are. Days in a cage is going to be pretty hard on them. I know that they are one breed I have that is not good for kids. All my other breeds are easy handled.

Perhaps you could get some of those bantams Orpingtons..they are sweet as pie! The eggs are almost the same size as LF med eggs of the ones I have seen. Cochins are a good choice too. Pretty as can be.

And oh on a lighter note I see on FB Someone has started a hot dog company called Carlos Danger Weiners Good evening all!

I dropped off the live Roo directly at Barron, got the bill yesterday for full autopsy, $87. You can do blood draw for other tests that run from $1-3 depending on which test. You can go to their website and it shows what each test costs. I don't have their site address at the moment but you can Google it.

No one answered my prior question too about if bantams would be easier for younger kids to show in 4h or not....any bantam suggestions.... Just trying to get ideas for next spring.

I think it would depend on how well your kids can handle the birds. My 8 year old son will finally be able to show at the county fair next year (He was a Cloverbud these past few years.), and he will probably show bantam Polish and Silkies. From my experience, I see an awful lot of bantam sized chickens at the county fair. What are the kids interested in?

Son 14 and I finally got the windows and most of the new coop finished today.

Clark, I'm gonna say hen BUT with that said I thought I had all hens and all of a sudden 75% of them matured like over night and I had tons of roosters. I think the Ameraucana's are slow to develop. The first picture looks like a hen for sure and the second picture changed my mind just a tad bit. The comb looks a bit reddish in the second picture. I don't see any hackle feathers so I'm gonna say hen.

The FFF was good. A bit pricey but good. Would you believe the movie theater was almost empty. We were the first two people to be seated.... thought for a while we were going to be the only two watching.... Then two more men came in... That was it !!! When we left I think were were the only two people in the building !!!! Kind of freaky. When we sat down I said to ET, I'm not turning my phone off, I'll put it on vibrate but I won't turn it off !!! Weird things happen in dark places !!! LOL

Ok, trying to unwind. Hope I sleep better then last night !!
