Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Quote: thanks momgille but according to my research on here and otheer sites and my "CHicken Health for Dummies" book (yes, I have that one, hehehe) in young birds or those very infirm (like momma) the symptoms are classic. In mature laying hens often (but not always-sneezing, etc. may also be present and may only occur at night on the roost, geesh) the only sign is the screwed up production/quality which shows up after the damage has been done.

hubby is on the run to FF for the tylan. i may still have time to head off the worst of the damage

now i am going outside to stare at everybody else!!!
Terri???? did you have any problem with this in your flock in the past?

THANK YOU LORD THAT AT LEAST THIS IS SOMETHING THAT CAN BE TREATED!

???????????

I never posted one word about the animals

He's old, and infirm Deli. He gets inflamed easily. He's got meds for it. He also forgets names and who types what. Side effect of his inflamed meds...

Kristi... Stop worrying over those guineas already. Your hubby is going to hate how loud they are and make you get rid of them. I'm not trying to be mean, but if he was worried about a chicken, you just wait. Adult guineas are loud. It won't matter boys or girls. And I don't think you can tell for a very long time by call. They have to be running around being totally natural to tell that way. Then you have to try to see who's mouth is moving with what noise. I figured out by "make up". The females have extra eye liner around their eyes. I had a picture on facebook ill try to find and tag you in. I dont remember if it was a girl or not, but it was a close up guinea face so you can see what im talking about.
Why do you need to have girls and boys anyway? You don't need to make babies of everything, right?

I'm getting really really sick of my darling angels being around all the time. I am REALLY thinking the inflamed old man could use some visitors for a few days. It would totally be worth the drive, and if Jim could be so patient with grandma, he could handle a few of my angels, right?

Quote: Delisha, It must have been somebody else,, I guess I just assumed you were in there with all the rest of them.. I had to start my sentence somehow.. Your name just popped up..

Heather, I will take your boys .. I can handle being around kids more so than adults.. as long as the kids' parents aren't around..

:-D lol I bet! You could get the 7 yr old to believe your "special medicine" only comes from a spotted cow. And because you're in your twilight years you're really only supposed to sit in a lawn chair and take your medicine all day while supervising child labor. I think it would be hilarious!!!

Hey Jim
You must have some street smart Guineas !!!! I had Way to many guineas... BUT I had NO ticks. I thought I would have baby keets running all over the place when half of my flock went missing. I thought all of the hens were on eggs. They I had those 15 keets and 9 of them died. It was during that real cold spell that we captured them. So now that they've all been missing in action for well over 28 days I think mother nature must have gotten the best of them !!! My poor Guineas !!! If what I have left would actually stop running around I think I could actually count them. I must have a few hens since ET collects eggs and brings in a few guinea eggs now and then.... Might just have to fire up the incubator.

I also have two pairs of mutt chickens living in a small garage where I we made two stalls for the older goats to spend the nights. They had about 7 babies. Two days ago I see one got killed my my wonderful female Great Pyrenees !!! Now for the last two days the that were remaining are missing !!!!!
GD I hate when that happens. We have seen no evidence of predators but ??? I might have to put up my cameras.

Nothing new other then that.. Oh my eggs are getting bigger... Anybody else notice bigger eggs after a molt?

We finally got the pool up yesterday !!!! Now need to fill with water.....and let it warm up. So I must might be able to use it for a week or so before we have to take it down.

Tomorrow is the big day....... Heart Cath !!! Not scared of what they find just a bit concerned about the procedure.... I've been put under TONS of times so that really isn't my concern either...... I guess my fear is HUMANE ERROR.... I've been around long enough to see a lot and with my family being in the medical profession... I hear things !!!

Anyway, SClark...... that so sad. I knew two people that committed suicide. One of my Ex's only son did it. He was about 18 yrs old. Don't know the circumstances since we were not together at the time. And my Ex Sister In Laws brother who was in his 30's committed suicide a few years ago. He had a crazy wife and he also was drinking before he did it. He left behind children.
I worry about my nephew being 19 (actually his birthday is today) He has been through so much pain in his short life with losing his grandparents to murder (they babysat him during the week so were just like parents), then he went through a rough divorce with his parents, then losing his Uncle to suicide.
I think anxiety runs in his Mom's side of the family. My personal opinion is if you've know people that have accomplished the task of suicide it just makes it more realistic and easier to do if you've had it happen to someone you've lost.
I'll be so glad when he is out of the teen years !!! I may be wrong but I think suicide is the reason for most teenage deaths. Or could be car accidents but either way.... sure makes us older people worry !!! Life especially these days is so stressful. I don't think I"d want to be a teenager in this day and age. Although I wouldn't mind being about 27 right about now !! LOL

Vickyw, have you gone to the disease section on BYC. I think they have a sticky for drug dosages. I posted a link several months ago. I can try to find it again.
I don't think Fleet Farm carries Tylan. The Country Store does I think.
Does he have a cel phone you can call him on and tell him?

ok, that's it for now. Gotta go get things done today.... well maybe after one more cup and some breakfast. Will have to eat good today, no food after midnight !!!

Hi all- just wanted to check in. I've been so busy and not able to keep up as much as I'd like here lately. Hopefully tonight I'll be able to read through all the posts. Just wanted to share some of my duck and new chick pictures. Happy Sunday!
Fat and healthy. One week old.

This one is about 16 weeks old. I think she is one of the ugliest birds ever, but I love her anyway :) (at least I think it is a she?)

I love our guy Colt. He is so friendly!

Two of the four Pekins. I think we have 2 males and 2 females.

Anne our Rouen girl

The runners :)

Anne and Gilbert. He is finally getting his pretty green head

All the ducks minus one Pekin
