Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I just put 5 more keets into the TV.. there are more pips.. Yes, I do open my bator to remove the chicks before they are all hatched.. I do lots of things wrong.. so far I have at least 75% hatch already with this batch by doing it all wrong..

TerriO, be careful,, Heather might be serious about lending out her boys.. HeII, there were times when I would have given all 3 of my kids to the first taker..

Jerusalem artichokes.. My neighbor gave me a start about 40 years ago,, I have been trying to eradicate them ever since..

TerriO, PM me your address , I will send you a box of roots.. I wouldn't wish these things on my worst enemy,, but you asked for it.. plant them far away from anything else.. they will take over..
you don't have to thank me,, it won't be long and you will be condemning me to heII !!!!

Annie is picking blackberries.. I am waiting for her to get finished.. She bought BBQ ribs from MENARDS !!! you just have to heat them for about 45 minutes in the oven.. Menards,, can you believe it ?? I am going to make ho-made french fries.. the thin ones,, with no food value whatsoever, but crisp and crunchy .. Reeed Rovinnn,, yummmm...

looks like another keet is about to hatch..

why is it that there is always one crybaby in every batch ?? the rest of them are content, and Lord knows he can't be lonely ...

Hi all- just wanted to check in. I've been so busy and not able to keep up as much as I'd like here lately. Hopefully tonight I'll be able to read through all the posts. Just wanted to share some of my duck and new chick pictures. Happy Sunday!
Fat and healthy. One week old.

This one is about 16 weeks old. I think she is one of the ugliest birds ever, but I love her anyway :) (at least I think it is a she?)

I love our guy Colt. He is so friendly!

Two of the four Pekins. I think we have 2 males and 2 females.

Anne our Rouen girl

The runners :)

Anne and Gilbert. He is finally getting his pretty green head

All the ducks minus one Pekin

That's a nice looking crew you've got there!!

Nothing to say but I'm so sorry for you and your family

(I apologize for the.late response, will explain in later post)

X2!! :-(

Ok, try to keep this as concise as possible.

FRENCHIE - thanks for the tip. Hubby had already hit FF and I called Country Store and when I talked to whoever they said, " oh no! We never carry any kind of antibiotic!" I SWEAR THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID :smack. Wish they wouldn't have kids answer the phone at these places on weekends. Anyway, Noodle is doing MUCH better on the Vet RX and I've already ordered the oil of oregano. Hopefully it will be here by Wednesday.

TERRI - thanks for getting back to me. Momma was already weakened and probably picked it up easy from a wild bird???? And passed it on to Noodle. No surprise, they were inseparable.

Just been a bad week with my little Angel so sick, no sleep, then momma, I just couldn't handle the thought of losing my little Noodle too. AND the rest of the babies!!! When I came in from the coop after hearing her congested I was in tears. Dumb I know but I love my critters. Watching everybody else like a hawk and if they even look funny, they'll be getting RX treatment too!!!

Oh, for toppers? Hubby was still in town. So When I went out to check on the girls there was a BEAR DOG trying to get into the run!!!! I grabbed that thing by the collar, drug it to the garage and locked it in. I called the number on the collar, long distance of course and left the message they had one hour or the next call I made was to the sheriff
long story short, the guy walked up the driveway a little while later looking for his dog. Kind of felt bad later because he was very nice and apologized and EVEN offered to pay for any damage. I really let him know the trespass was Not appreciated, this is private land and hunting dogs were not welcome!!! Let's just say I didn't swear but I really didn't need to, he got the message loud and clear!!!

As you can attest I'm sure FRENCHIE, that kind of stress just makes the neuropathy go haywire, sigh.

Thanks again for everyone's help, I promise to kick my IQ in sooner next time. I also want apologize to everyone with much more serious problems than mine today. I love all the great pics.

A LITTLE PRAYER FOR TOMORROW FOR YOU FRENCHIE :hugs

I sold 4 BO and 2 Buckeyes at the swap andbonly managed to buy one. A Lavender Orphington roos born Jan.4th, (day before my bday) He's out of lines from Dave of Roberts which I've previously heard raises some nice orpingtons. Now I can only hope I have 3 lav pullets I hatched.

I spent the afternoon helping the friend build a new pen for her pigs and got those moved. 3 went fine, but the one sow, now over 300 lbs didn't take being let out if the small pen so well and took nearly 2 hours to coax her out. But not before she flipped me over in 2 feet of liquid pig poo 3 times. Husband made comments of not sleeping near me so I slept in the addition with all my stench. 2 showers, tons of soap and scrubbing and I still smell as bad as when I started. At least their moved and into a nice size area where they can have room to move and not lay in their manure. I still feel horrible, but hope this was an eye opener to her situation. I will be taking rabbits to sell to another swap this Saturday and she has agreed to let me take a bunch to sell. Me and son 14 also sorted bunnies to keep the boys away from girls. Here I thought there was 50, well its over 70. Its a start and I will be trying to stay close to keep an eye so things don't get worse. I still feel bad as she doesn't know it was me, seems deceptive but I feel I had no other choose. She also is going to let me sort her chickens and decide which ones to sell but I explained to her the importance to downsize so she can enjoy them more and not be so overwhelmed. I know all this may backfire and she could just keep on but it seems she trusts my opinions and does sincerely appreciate the help I've been giving her. Only time will tell.

You're a super good friend to help her like that! Kudos to you!!

Good to hear Noodle is doing better!!

TerriO- I purchased 2 blrw from a person at the Rusk Cty Fair last Sunday. One of which was in the exhibit and the other she had at home. She brought it to the fair on Sunday am for me to pick up, I just assumed she raises chickens she should of known better than to leave it in a vehicle in a box for that long. When I did meet up with her to get the splash, the bird was very dehydrated and weak. I guess I should of never took the bird but I didn't realize the damage that was caused. We just brought her over to the chicken barn and give her water, lots of water! I got her home and give her vitamins and electrolytes, she just got worse and worse. Culled her today to put her out of her misery.

I'm sorry for the mistake on my Bantam, I thought the woman said she was a Buckeye when I purchased her, she looks identical to my fs buckeyes in coloring. So she' a Welsummer then. How common are they in Bantams?

Bantam has now hatched 3 chicks today and 3 more are pipped.

Did you get these from the guy in Evansville? He has great chickens Got our mottled Java from him and we were thinking of getting some Delawares from him if its the same guy... Let me know if he still has any others available
who's the Evansville guy? I need a chicken guy in Evansville too.
