Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

We also microwave small amounts of corn when having corn on the cob, but we do 6 minutes each ear.
Meal worm people on here, what do you all use for your substrate in with your mealies? Not sure what I want to use yet
We have a very active mealworm colony at work. Here is what we do....Get a clear, plastic tub that is about 3ft (L) x 2ft (W) x 2ft and a white plastic lid. Layer in the following paper towels then pine shavings, paper towel then pine shavings (Wet down the paper towel)...add bugs and tropical flake fish food and put cover on askew. Wet down the top surface once a week and sprinkle in fish food too.
Just so I can poke the bear......

Arial not areal......

And the body goes into rigor....... Not rogor....

When is this grand drinking day? Can I come and play too????

TO, I am thinking I need to get one of those silly jobs myself..... this grown-up stuff sucks.
I don't have a day set for the "drinking day" but I am all in!!!! I will definitely treat the "intern" well (and pay him too).
CC I prefer Fire Fox for all my browsing, works fine here and always has for me, pretty simple if I can use it. I tried Chrome but didn't like it enough to keep it.

Had fff home made, friend (indeed) dropped off some fresh bluegills, got me thinking about some fall fishing after the lakes calm down.

Helping a friend butcher tomorrow he's doing about 40 birds, all hens at about 1.5 yrs, I have no idea why he didn't sell them on CL prices are pretty good right now for layers. His brother is helping, he traps and tags predators for the DNR, I plan to pick his brain for a couple hours, maybe get a plan together to thin them around here. Last night around 9 the fox or coyotes were serenading me again from behind the barn, another project that needs doing.

Another friend just called, traded a pickup load of firewood for a load of sweet corn, going to get it Sunday morning, looks like that will be my project to start the week.

ain't friends grand?

Hi All

JJ... I would love those feathers! I got a few in Terri's batch and was wondering what they are. Wow, too bad though. I'm down to 4 roos and they seem to do OK. They have their own pecking order and now that that d@mn Dom is gone, no one challenges. I do have a few young ones though. They will be "gone" when big enough. I like to let my butchered chickens (roos) set in the frig. for 2 days before I eat or freeze them. And yes, slow and low for cooking.

Jim... Hope she doesn't loose many after the hatch! My grandpa would use mealworms for ice fishing.

I saved you the wings. Is that ok ?

I left the pack with 4 minutes left to play.. the game was not anything spectacular, but afterall, it is a preseason game.. but the two announcers drove me crazy.. they talked about everything except the game.. very distracting.. If you are getting paid to announce the game, then dam it, do your job.. and they were Johney on the spot with helpful advice, after the play was over..

I sold the cluck and the little chicks went right on with their lives .. free ranging every day and going into the coop at night.. Only one of them has disappeared .. I have 8 of the original 9..

there must be at least a dozen keets in the hatcher tonight.. tomorrow I will transfer them to the TV..

we are without any water tonight.. the Loctite takes 24 hours to cure.. I think it would hold already, but we don't need water after we go to bed, so will wait until morning to turn the pump on..

Cind, if my old roo ever dies, I am going to send you the whole bird.. then you can take whatever feathers you want..

I would send some feathers from Old Tom, but he has hardly any.. I think he will die before next spring,, He acts like he has arthritis ,, Some days I have to lift him off the roost or else he won't get down to eat..

So the big winner at the Fair for poultry was a white runner duck, followed by a BIG black duck that I am guessing is an East Indie (?), then I think a white Call, and then the big chicken winner was a white Silkie. That black duck was the BIGGEST drake I have ever seen, it was the size of a small goose without the long neck!

We watched the horse pull for a while too, such beautiful animals! I was waiting for a finger to get pinched the way those horses would take off when they would hear the clip hit the weight sled. The top pull was 7500#.

I think we should all just show up at BigFams with tents and booze and have a night.

John... can you get me some tail feathers too?
hmm.png
Or are they gone already? The sickle feathers are the best, even if the base is broken.
(Wish I was on the computer sooner, I would have let you know)

I will try. THe tail feathers were only 5 inches max. The roo was not 5 months old yet.

East Indies are bantam ducks. He was totally black? Maybe Cayuga? Those are medium class. Or perhaps a black Swedish, they are medium also but should have a white bib. Did you take a pic??

Dan, hopefully I will have luck with the WH next spring and can supply you. I had many eggs develop but not hatch, so fertility was not the issue. My birds are out of Holderread parents, but from 2 different farms. I really adore the breed - beautiful, friendly, and dual purpose. And they mix well with scovy.
