DD14 off for the first day of school!!! I am home sick today....also trying to get this chicken sickness figured out. Called vet 45 mins from here and plan on taking Latte in for a necropsy. First I need to find someone local to draw blood, so I can take a sample in for testing to see exactly I am battling here. And of course-vet that was useless locally cant draw blood, the 1st pollurum tester I called, doesnt have supplies for drawing blood, the main contact for polk county 4h that would have a list of people-her phone is disconnected!! :barnie Still trying to find someone that can draw blood. The Barron vet that is part of the state lab testing, doesnt want a sick chicken coming onto the grounds and leaving again....understandably-so still searching here-wish me luck. I just want to know what I am dealing with, if this means a future closed flock only, if this is even treatable etc.

Totally get the same. Can't find a vet in a 100 miles that will do it. People blessed enough to live near Madison, farm country, etc don't get how rural rural can get when you don't live anywhere near vet college or working livestock farms. Up here loggers don't raise chickens, they just eat em.

Posted before reading latest. So glad Sclark is helping you out!!!

Back from the vet. Pup needs 2 more weeks on antibiotics but progressing nicely.
No more hacking, coughing, sneezing chickens. No more chicks pooping blood. All on appropriate meds or follow-up probiotics.
All is right with the world. Bye.

Glad your pup is feeling better :)
What di you end up using for the chickies? I remember you talking about some things but wasnt sure what you went with.

Scary heaing about everyones birds sick and dying! :'(
Clark, sorry about the loss of your two last night!
Maybe last weeks heat has some birds immune systems low. A friend of a friend lost an adult roo in that heat last week.
I hope with the cold front moved in, everybody's birds start to feel better!!

Irish, you will have to keep us posted on the wild birds! Hopefully they are not carrying anythung harmfull for your chickies!!!!

Cs, how did the rest of the hatch go? I was feeling excited for those babies! Then you must have got busy! We want to hear the end of the story! And where are the pics?!!

Judi, I would have done a blood draw for you. From under the wing. But I'm glad you found help. I'll be your direction again at around 6 tonight. I have someone picking up 200 bales. I haven't been out, but I heard he got 32 6x6 round bales out of the last portion of the field that I didn't want to deal with. I called Link's in hopes of them buying them all. Waiting on a call back.

Good Afternoon everyone.

I see Jim and Unk have been lurking.... where are all of your comments.... did you guys enter Amy's baby pool ?

Clark... Sorry for your loss. I'm still wondering if maybe the necropsy from those sick birds was a mistake? Or they brought something into your flock.

VickyW... glad to hear good news from you about your poochie and chicks....

Congrats to all of you with kids back in school !!!! Yippee !!

TO, yeah, I heard that about the hydrogen peroxide damaging the healthy tissue...surprised we all made it to adulthood with all the peroxide we used as kids. I always liked the bubbles too. Actually I like to put alka Seltzer's in my mouth whole and let them fizz. I remember once when my Grandma was babysittine I took one off the counter and put it in my mouth. She was looking for me and I ditched into the back hall so she couldn't find me with a mouth full of alka seltzer !!!

Bl4 Apple Pie or Apple Pie shots, both sound good !!! Time to think about making some more. Ummm silly question but if you go poking and throwing apples at hives nests isn't it almost a given that someone get stung..... I would have done that unless I had a can of rain in hand. LOL

Cuties.... I think your little girl needs a pony or horse... Now is the time to get one... they are cheap or free this time of year. And there is still time for lessons.

Cindlady..... sorry but your adventure out yesterday had me snickering (sorry) I can picture all of that happening !!! Especially the husbands driving....
Ah yes... family.... you can't live with them... and your can't live without them !!! LOL
Also sorry about your loss.

Well, time to get outside and do something I guess... ET had a doctor appointment this am so he will be working late.
I have one tomorrow in town. Then I'm going to have to go find some new shoes. I think I left my one and only wedding and funeral shoes (special occasion shoes) down in Racine. It's hard to find shoes I can wear. Not just because of my fake foot but because the one foot I do have is just there. Not much feeling from neuropathies but when I get a shoe that doesn't fit then it hurts !!! Wonder how my chicken shoes will look with black slacks !!!
Have to go to the funeral on Thursday......

Well the sun is out. I should go for a swim but until I've mastered getting out of it I think I had better wait until ET is home. That would be all he would need to come home to.... hey when you get older you get wiser and less adventurous !!!

Hope I didn't forget to many...... CRS wasn't quite as bad this afternoon !!! LOL
