Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Where the heck would I work if we moved up there???? Nice place, but I want more than 6 acres for horses. To me that is not enough room for one horse let alone a few. Besides, I would like to have a field of hay to bale up to feed them with too.

Tossed and turned for an hour and finally fell asleep when DH's alarm went off at 5..... Going to be a fun day.....

Oh my! I just went to your website. I completely forgot what it was about, so when I saw Virgin Vapors, starter kits, batteries, accessories, etc., my eyebrows raised dramatically. I thought maybe you had a sinister side to sweet, quiet lil ol' Ang, alter ego to Judi. Something along the lines of Heather & all her talk about pole dancing and such came to mind.

So, so terribly sorry about that! But it was just too funny not to share.

And to top it off, Virgin vapors tagline is.."you will never forget your first time!"

Too funny - I agree, I too forgot what it was about and was surprised when I got the "age" warning . . . excited for you Angiebubs

Bl4, I used to have a farm with only 6 acres. I think it depends on how you use a land. 1 horse per acre of pasture is the general rule. Horses stayed on 2 acres and we got plenty of hay off the other 4. Hay grew better in Iowa black dirt than this stinkin sand we have here. I always have to buy hay here. I barely had to get any at that place and I had 6 horses there. I have 15 acres now but only three fenced pastures. Maybe 7 acres fenced total and 4 horses. Still need to get more acres fenced, but this sandy pasture just doesn't grow grass fast enough.

Hello all,

Vacation is over, so it's back to reality. Fishing was slow, but it's always a relaxing trip regardless of the fishing - and enjoyed meeting Unkadan

. My niece did a good job of taking care of our chickens while we were gone, they didn't blow away with the high winds Thursday so that's a good thing. Lots of posts to catch up on so just did a skim through - as always nice chick pics.

Some of us in the Madison area (momgille, & kristip) are planning on a mini meet-n-greet mid morning on Saturday (10/12) in Paoli. We're looking forward to having TerriO & JJ possibly Carol and anyone else that can make it join us. I have mentioned this to Susan Troller (owner of Cluck the Chicken Store http://cluckthechickenstore.com/ ) and she is excited about meeting everyone. Hope the weather is as nice as it was this weekend.

Well - I just wanted to pop in, now I best get to work. Have a good day everyone!!

Thanks RBerry!

Thanks for sharing the pics of the Amish chicken farm. All in all for a large facility that place looked pretty roomy! I hate driving by the turkey farm near us as the poor things are so packed in I dont think they can even turn around-no idea how they eat.

Also-LOVE the sound of the chicken palace in that home for sale in Clintonville. I so wish I could quit corp work and be 100% homesteader!!!

Here is the one of the Amish poultry barns. See the nest boxes on the walls. They are sloping forward and the eggs roll down into the covered conveyor belt.
Where is this in Bonduel? My kids would probably get a kick out of this and we might be going up north next month.

I'll look up the address for you and post later. They do have sign for eggs so you can go there and buy eggs and I'm sure they will let you see the chickens. We went on a paid tour that I don't know how often they have it. It was on Bonduel Founders Day Celebration.
It is in Bonduel. I think on Valley Road. I'll get the address. Remember they don't do business or answer their phone on Sundays.
On Friday October 11th they are having a Haystack fundraiser for a little amish boy who has rheumatic fever. Free Will offering. I guess it starts out with crackers on the bottom, topped with lettuce, beef then melted cheese. Might have more stuff, that's all I remember. Plus pie and ice cream. I would be going but we have to go to a Wedding down in Eagle. That sucks. I'd rather go to the Haystack benefit. Plus sucks that there are weddings on Fridays...sure they save money on the wedding but ET has to take off work... not to mention the money we already have to spend on gas and line up animal care. It is his best friends daughter or we wouldn't be going.... still don't want to go. I hate weddings.... Ok, well I don't hate the cake !!! LOL
