Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hey there...busy week...actually busy month but loving it. I hate to say it but I was born to be a soccer/football/wrestling momma cheering on my title boy. My daughter decided to just take swim lessons this year... So that kinda helps balance things out. And worked an extra day this week so just a little busy. Hoping to meet up with the chicken people that are meeting next Saturday in Pasolini, but we have two birthday parties that day and sports so ewe will have to see.

Right now I think my chi kens are on a food strike. We had been on pellet food for a while and for the past five months had chick starter and grower crumbles going in most of the feeders...now they won't go back to pellets..little food snobs....they get scraps and veggie tops etc, but at some point will need to eat real food too. Any suggestions.

Hi All!

kristi.... I use pellets (from our mill) and use them as a base for FF. I leave a little dry out for them too, but I think they waste less with pellets over crumbles. If their weigt seems OK I wouldn't worry.

Is the get together this Sat. or the 12th?

Night All!

Took my meat chickens to Sonday Produce this morning for processing. I'll actually miss the little buggers. They were pretty laid back and always happy to see the food dispensers. They were 8 weeks and 3 days and still running all around. Some of them were over 10 lbs! They had a nice life running around my yard and eating grass and bugs. I feel a bit sad :(.

Hi all---heading out soon for my weekend vacation scrapbooking! I cant wait. My Mom just called me (H3ll must have frozen over!) she never calls...so while I listened to her troubles and what she bought I cam on here to read! LOL!
I am always sad when birds leave too Lisa...it doesn last long though!
CC all that horse stuff looks like a good deal...too bad it is far. I wonder why in the world someone would dismantle a horse barn??? Think of all the chickens you could put in there if you didnt want a horse!

OK--Gotta run--still need to make the chore list that DH wont follow! Have a great weekend! TErriO

Where do you go for your scrapbook vacation??

Have fun Terri!!

Lisa..I am always so happy to see the meaties go to slaughter. lol

I did butcher out the two birds that did not cut the mustard at the show when we got home. I also culled a long legged AM cockerel and that bothered me. He was a sweetie. I also need to cull two pinched tailed girls soon. Might be today if it stops raining.

Cindy..The meet up is the 12th./I am going to try to get there, but we will see.
I figured since the chiclokens are not attacking me or the kids as food products when we go in the coop, they are not starving. They were just spoiled on the chick starter with all the protein in it. They will just have to deal wiuth the pellets as I have three bags in my garage. Little stinkers. But finally used it all up and my youngest are 4.5 months old so we should be ok with the regular food now. Love those pics of hte black orps...they look alot like my black rock bantams that I got from Hurley. So pretty adn the girls are getting better about treats. The little roo that is dominant just walks around like he owns the place. Silly little guy. One of the girls is getting close to laying. Lets hope soon. My cusotmers are wondering what is going on with so few eggs...so am I. Really need to hunt down my trail camera to see who is laying. I have three colored egg layers and only get one a day max... so I know one of those is not doing much.,t Four to five eggs a day with at least a dozen who can lay right now. Then three I am waiting on soon. And 2 guineas and a roo. That is the happy coop. Ok sorry for spelling errors, there is horrible lag here so not sure if I can go back to correct right now. Really can type better, I swear!
