Where has that woman been, anyway?

Cind, so sorry to hear about Neil.

I am glad you are getting a small break from caretaking, though. Maybe mention to his doc about your concerns and see if he has any recommendations? If not, the spinal cord unit at Froedtert has a wealth of info on equipment, home-care personnel and other resources. I am glad Jon is finding his niche. Good luck to him.

Welcome to all the newbies! I hope you like it here. To the person with the goopy eyed chicken, I recommend a saline eye flush and use terramycin eye ointment. I got that advice from the chicken-health god of BYC, dawg53. If you frequent the emergencies threads, I'm sure you have seen him around. He knows his stuff. If you have any doubts, just send him a PM. He will answer you in no time. He is a wonderful man.

Ok, CRS has officially taken over, as has a need for sleep. I do seem to recall Mellie hitting a roo with her car? For shame............

I hope everyone and their chickens/critters are on the mend. Sorry for the losses. Oh, and I'm up to my eyeballs in roosters this year too. They're so darn well behaved and pretty, too. Really good coloring. I tried taking pics but they just don't do them justice. Maybe I'll try posting some soon. Sweet dreams, all!

Happy hump day everyone! I'm behind posts, but just don't have the time right now...

My son needs to re-home his rooster. My husband wants to eat it, but he's a softie when it comes to the kids and their pets. If anyone is interested or knows of anyone interested, I just posted this on cl earlier:

Please spread the word! I've got him cooped up in a cage in the garage and he's not happy about that. I feel bad for the little guy, but he makes way too much noise and I don't need the cops showing up.

Hi All!

Sclark... Hope your Jeep works out on the low end! That's cool about the donating. I used to do what I could when I could, not so much anymore, good to teach the kids though.

deli... try super glue on the hen, works real good!

LM....Nice looking birds!

bl4.... what a naughty little dog! Good thing you managed to get him back!

CC.... Thanks, still looking into things, allot will depend on what will get covered too.

Well, bed time... Night All!

CC, I did not hit anything with my car! ;p

I'll contact she-ra and find out what what she would like to do.

Ugh...... getting up this early is thankfully coming to an end. :D

Good morning!!!
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Outside waterers full of ice! BUT no body bleeding in the coop this morning and only maybe a few extra feathers! I did make the point of getting out and opening the coop super early this morning so the aussies could make a run for it if they needed to. They got harassed a little but I think mostly because everyone is cranky because I kicked them out of their warm coop so early.

CUTE STORY ALERT - went to Foster and Smith company store Tuesday to shop for Christmas gifts for the "grand puppies". When I went to checkout, the girl behind the counter smiled at my huge bag of millet. When I told her it was for my chickens, she said, "I have to show you this" and brought up pictures on her screen. There was a smiling young girl holding her pretty buff orpington. She had brought her hen in to the store to be fitted for a harness so she could take her for a walk!!! In the picture they both looked very proud of her pretty new pink "outfit" :D
BTW - the folks at this store are always so friendly and super helpful no matter how crazy your problem/request might be regarding your critters.

Morning all!

A while ago I got a couple birds from Celtic Chick. I was going to give her an update and send pics but then thought I'd post them here...maybe you all can help me decide if I have 2 pullets or 1 pullet and 1 cockerel.
CC, they're doing great. Still getting along fine with the older hens and growing like little weeds, very calm and sweet. Thanks again for the wonderful birds!

Vicki, that is sooo cute!! Sounds just like my sydney! We save $ around here tho! Lol she makes her harnesses out of string :-D
