Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

JJ---you will NOT get off that easily! We want words and explanations....OK no words necessary for Lyd's haircut! IT IS ADORABLE! I always disliked long hair on littles that cant take care of it themselves anyhow! Great job on that coop! It has chicken wire for the floor? But is sets down on the ground then right? Is that a bat house at the peak? See? we need words! (OK--I do!)

that's better. laptop not letting me type there for a minute. Back after a restart.

yes wire around walls at bottom so I can lft one end to level it and keep birds in/ preds out.

not a bat box. both ends have a vent to let heat out in the hot months. These were made for putting on the roof but work well on the wall also and cheap.

added the extra nesting box when I found out the lady wanting 7-8 birds to get started has not built a coop or done anything else to get ready for being a chicken owner so I will have those birds now indefinately.

Late Evening All... Hope you newer folks to the cheeseheads enjoy your time here.

Gulldarnit....if you guys that like carrots lived closer, I'd be able to help you out with a big bunch, or two, or three.

I found another 10 keeper buttercups while pulling vines today. I need to figure a way to get you some jim. I have 22 now, even after giving 8 away today.

Don't think the seeds were mixed TO. However being op, they could of got crossed possibly? If they all looked like hubs, then prolly not........shoulda been hubbs. Put your sunglasses on...they should all look the same color.

Tossed a face cord in the basement today. I have a lot of garden stuff to get done to....was bent over most of the day today....my cheeks are sore from using the lazy part of my body today. It's a wonder i'm still awake...not for long prolly.

Only saw one deer tonight. It came around right at closing. I have a lighted pin that I didn't have on, however if the glow is out naturally, then shooting time is over. It was only a 1 1/2 old anyway.

Time for a tall one and then beddy bye....bigz

I have decided to post along with reading...I have things to say that I KNOW I wont remember!

CS--I know that Vicky is looking for a cat...I am thinking that she will take the calico. I have conditions though! If she ends up coming here to pick up the cat after it is spayed, I will send squash home with her so she can give you some. Did you want the #75 or the #50 Hubbard?

They're doing it AGAIN!

OK Sandy--I was kinda right that it was you with the Sea green (blue) Hubbards. How in the world did you end up with ONLY THREE???? I only planted ONE hill (10 seeds) and I ended up with #1500!!!! I think we should trade some seeds!

Speaking of squash...KristiP--I was just at Piggly Wiggly tonight and they have spaghetti squash (and others) for .69/lb. You could always go and get it at a store...I think it is local anyhow.

[CC: With my help we can really over run Terri in roos

]

Yeah, let's not....Terri is already over run with roos! I just had my friend drop of that Ameraucana today....he actually is a pretty nice looking bird! (although has no tail to speak of!)

Beginning of December looks good for me to meet again! That store is open all year round right? I want to go and look there again! It has such neat stuff for sale!

Welcome Fuxzi...I must confess...when I first read your name I was wondering if you were a genuine person!

So I read some of your threads...I have ducks for sale here in Lake Mills!

Ahhhh--there's CC banging her head again...some things never change!

WYO--glad to have you back in the state! I am only 5 miles from Jefferson here. You will have LOTS of neighbors up in the Green Bay area! I am sure any one of them can help you get some chickens!

Well, that was much easier than trying to remember what I wanted to say! Easy Peasy! Now I have to sign off and find out where this awful smell is coming from! It smells kind of like a dead mouse or maybe leaking gas or sauerkraut....Hmmmm. I have no idea where to start! LOL!

Good night all--TerriO

I'll take either one, but I've got a feeling that Vicki will make me come with her to get that squash! We could make get pie with a squash of either size and save the seeds to plant!

Mr. Gibs and Lily are getting along well and are now "engaged". The chickens like her also.

David Letterman needs a new tailor. Has anyone seen his suit coats? They are huge and have an A line shape. Ugh!!!!

JJ- thanks for the pics, I agree that more wording is required

Welcome newbies!

Hi All!

Momg.... Yea, that place sounded great if I were young and healthy! It will make a great place for a young couple. I does sound like it may need a regular bathroom. Hard to tell from the add, but the house is only 13 years old!

cuties... did you look up "blackhead"? Not saying that's what it is, but I would look.

TO... Storky (a game hen and great mother) hung around with the guineas until she started laying. I think you'll be eating an awful lot of squash this winter! Hope your torties are doing good.

jj.... nice job on the coop. Cute hair cut.

Fuxzi.....

Well, the people that were suppose to bring Neil a bed didn't come yet. He's suppose to come home today (Wed.) hummm... I hope he's well enough to get in and out of his old bed for awhile,

Got the new roo, didn't get a real good look at him yet, hubby brought him about 6:30 so it was getting dark. I think he was this spring's hatch, his tail is not quite full yet, spur nubs. Gee I wish it were spring! I do have a Welsummer hen. With my luck she either won't make through winter or will stop laying come spring! I think she's 3.

Morning All,

OK who ticked off Mother Nature?? I am so not ready for these cold temps
rant.gif
my bantam Wyandottes didn't leave their coop until past 10:00 yesterday. Between the molt and short day light, I'm only getting one - three eggs per day from my seven big girls, and the pullets haven't started yet. We have the cord run to the main coop and light hung, now just need to get the timer set. I thought hubby would get that set yesterday, but he has 15 big windows coming for the solarium and needed to finish the framing. There just aren't enough hours in the day . . .

Kristi: I would love to swap for butternut - I'll PM you with details since Saturday will be a bit busy. I think a weekend early in December for a Cluck meet would be great. I can check with Susan, she opens at 10:00, but said it would be nice to do a 9 - 11 next time. I think she really wanted to join in on the conversation, so this would give her an hour before she has to open. She also suggested coffee and goodies.

JJ: Love the pics and coop. I haven't shown hubby yet, but I'm sure he'll be interested.

CC: WOW must have been the luck of the Irish (I've a bit of the Irish in me too) that we both had so many roosters. If one of my hens goes broody this spring, I hope I have your previous year's luck.

Fuxzi . . . your close to several of us. I hope you can join in when we meet up at Cluck the Chicken Store in Paoli. KristiP or I will post it when we get a date.

Terri: No roos for yous . . . ey? We only had three Hubbards that were keepers since they got in late. The smaller Hubbards went to the chickens. The young ones loved them, the older girls are too darned spoiled. They turned up their beaks and waited for Rod to get the bag of shredded cheese. Now those are true "Cheeseheads"!!

Well another slow day at work, so I guess I'll start cleaning out my electronic files.
