I got him so I can walk behind. I can get him going. And a little faster. And a slow down. We need to do much work on woa! I am pretty proud!

No worries! I instructed the kids; no riders yet. Just getting him used to the idae!

Adorable Cuties! Who doubted you? I can see your kids with a mobile Lemonade stand...... the mini will bring people in like bees to honey!

The girls still have Frodo out for a walk...... tomorrow I would like to take him out to the in-laws ans see how he is. LOTS of room for running there! Maybe by then the other two will have warmed up enough to play with him.....

I hope the girls come home soon, I am really tired from today. A lot of stress.....

Hello everybody, We are in Northeast Wisconsin. Our new chicks should arrive tomorrow morning. I am so excited. We also picked up our three ducks today. McGee, Ziva and Kate. We also have 20 rabbits.

The owners had contacted every Springer rescue in the area, plus Humane societies and they all told them to put him down.

Did they even see the dog or did they just make their determination over the phone? So glad you took the time to evaluate him. Sounds like he's in the right place now! Thank you for doing this!!
It probably won't be long till I'll be looking for another Springer as the one I have now is 13 and in poor health. He still wants to play like a puppy though...we call him the Energizer Spaniel.


Thanks Bigz. Bear stories...Yes! It's been a hunting wasteland here so far this year so I could use a good success story. The two family members with tags this year each went without a bear and we only have one small deer in the freezer so far. The farmers here haven't gotten the corn off yet, and there's LOTS of it, so gun season may be a challenge also.


I sold two Light Brahma hens last night and the woman is also looking for Black Orps. If anyone here has some, or will be hatching in Spring, please let me know.


Speaking of Spring....I got a seed catalog yesterday! Problem is I don't even have the garden cleaned up from this year yet.

My MIL breeds springers. My husband tried to take a puppy from the last litter and I asked him not to. They have a little too much energy for me.

So, a few issues but nothing that cannot be fixed. He knows commands but is not consistent with his response. He is possessive of things he claims, but a little motivation and letting him know who is boss and he will relinquish. I have been feeding him in his kennel so the other two can eat in peace and so I can gauge his behavior. I made him wait for his food this morning and had his sit over the bowl until I let him know he could have it. At some point I need to try and take the dish back to gauge his reaction. He does countersurf, which explains why he is so fat. I was told he was being fed 2 cups of food a day.......... he obviously was eating a lot more than that!

Huntress; all of the organizations that were contacted were making their evaluations over the phone (except the vet clinic where the tech said he should be put down but the vet did not). Based on the owner's description of his behavior, I was expecting Kujo, not a big overgrown puppy who wants to run and play. I hope I can find a nice home for him, I have no intentions of keeping him but I hated to think that such a beautiful dog would be put down due to lack of knowledge on the owner's part.

We are going to run his keester off today, a nice tired dog is easier to deal with.

Ok...can someone tell me what wry neck is and how it happens? Tonight I noticed that one of our favorite bantams was fluffed up like cold and tilting his neck now and again funny. Is this wry neck? What can I do?my daughter will be so upset if something happens to this little one..sigh.
This is a two year old little I bantam brown leghorn...

Hubby leaves this weekend for a week long work trip to Vegas. Should be an adventure.

Wry neck can be from several things...injury, deficiency, and hereditary. It is seen in silkies.
It can be treated with Vitamin E and Selenium and B12. They have to be used together or it does not work. (the treatment only works sometimes).
One cap of Vitamin E and 1/4 table of Selenium. 1/4 teaspoon of rooster booster on top of food(B 12). One cap of Vit E at night.
