Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

DrH, nice to hear from you!

Such a busy day yesterday....... I cannot believe I am awake.

Cuties, I have not made up my mind about going to Terri's or not yet. If I do go I will let you know and we could do a chicken train.

Gotta run!

Just hang on to your money and later I will get eggs back..do you want chicks instead of eggs? I have that nice male black orp I can leave with the silkies..if it is ok with TO.

How about I do both :) never hurts to have a little extra!! I had lost quite a few birds to the husky before the fence and chessy took care of things :'( would like to stock up now. And have some more eggs for next spring. You are welcome to more eggs any time.

A cute pic to start the day :)
Have a good one!!

Wow...that pic is making me dizzy! Swirly, wirly leaves, kids and dog...yup, that should be the name of that one!

I am glad that it's not a little colder here...it poured ALL night and is still coming down. My path/dooryard was just starting to dry out...of course I didnt spread the wood chips because of the back thing...now it is swampy and mucky AGAIN! I sure hope it can dry before it freezes solid! Did that one year....NNNOOOOOO!

So I got a ton of replies from that "hug a Chicken" day thing! So fun! I do agree Sandy, that Tommy would most definitely enjoyed an apple pie shot instead of the coffee (actually it was water) but it was pretty early in the morning! SIXTEEN BOTTLES you made? Sounds like you dont mess around when you decide to do something! Think any will be left by the bash?

Well, I better get moving to work. Next couple of weeks are going to be crazy around here...glad you guys are coming this week. The training for WEAP is many hours every day! My 11 o'clock client is not going to be too happy...
Any chickens you want to bring for a train or until Sunday or so is fine. Let me know if I need a kennel to put them in. They can stay in the upstairs barn.

Have a good day! TerriO

I enjoy challenges...... So this afternoon I am going to evaluate a Springer Spaniel who has aggression issues....... and possibly bring him home. Wish me luck! It is my belief the aggression stems from lack of dominance and exercise, but we will see.

Good luck bbl4.
I agree in some instances. But mostly disagree.
Hunting dogs thrive for just that. It is bred into them. I feel the same for some agressive dogs. It is bred into some. Wether it is on accident, or purpose.
I hope yours is not enough exercise/training.

I know I don't post here often but I just had to wish you the best of luck with this dog! I've raised/trained a boatload of Springers over the years and sometimes it can be a real challenge to figure out what's going on in their head. They're pretty high on the doggy IQ list so not only do they need exercise but also a lot of mental stimulation....hunting, tracking, agility, interactive toys. The worst case I've ever seen was one kept in what I'd call solitary confinement...a dog run behind a garage. Almost 7 days a week with no human interaction other than being fed once a day and on most weekends not even that as the owners would go away. I believe this dog's mind truly 'snapped'. On the rare occasion he was let out he'd always find something metal to chew on...even barbed wire.
I've seen lots of aggression issues stem from hard handed training like the old Koehler Method. Works great for some breeds but Springers are kind of wussies. If they are hurt at all (even from a pinch collar) fear aggression can develop...I'm gonna hurt you before you hurt me. So sometimes gentile, positive reinforcement training helps. I've also traced back some behavioral problems to medical issues such as hypothyroidism. It could also come from a trust issue. One of my own dogs would always growl at two friends of mine. I saw one guy tease the dog and the other guy fessed up that he teased him too. In both cases it only took ONE instance of teasing for the dog to not trust them.
Again...Good luck!
