Irish, what a cute pic! Glad you had a good time
Thanks for the tips on the parakeets. I will move the sand covers as soon as I get home. I put them right by the food and water! It hadnt even crossed my mind about their poor little feet.
Bbl4 I have done the calls wings. But I have never done the parakeets lol I figured I wanted them to beable to fly well so we don't have Dozer issues! They do hang with the kids a bitand then the kids decide to let them get exercise ;-)
Cind, our good mouser cat got hit in the road :'( I think I have scott talked into a kitten from a barn. But just one at this time. If Terri were willing to separate those girls....
Hope you all have a nice day!!
Hi All!
Cuties.... congrats on the hatch! Not something I would want to do this time of year.... but good luck to you! Enjoy!
TO... sorry about the chicks.
BigZ.... No buck this year?![]()
Irish.... Sorry about your henCute doggy pic.![]()
I HATE MICE!!! 6 cats and I still have mice in my kitchen!!! They even managed to wipe out the light over the counter. Every night at least 1 cat lays in wait for the d@mn critters and they manage to get about 1 a week. But there must be quite a colony. I tried traps.... 3 kinds.... they are trap proofPrice you pay for country life I guess.![]()
That's it.... Night All!
All 3 are doing great other than none of them are liking this single digit weather we are having. I'm really glad I brought the 2 pullets home with him so it's not an only chicken in quarantine in this. Sorry I haven't done any updated photos, I'll try sometime if the weather warms up.Sclark - how is "red" doing? I haven't heard about that trio since you brought them home?
Cuties - you are CRAZY!!!! Hatching eggs in December????Are you planning to keep the chickens in the house until Spring?
Sorry that your son was a pill yesterday for ya. Good luck with the hatch!![]()
There are so many people that I miss hearing from![]()
No snow here, just fog yesterday. We are dropping in temp from yesterday's 50 range to the 20 range for today, I feel like I'm on a weather rollercoaster. I went out today and got the waterer to scrub, it needed it. With the rabbits tunneling, they are stirring up dust & kicking dirt into the water.
Otherwise, I still have a dummy hen sitting on nothing in the nest box hopeful that an egg will appear. With 4 layers out there, I'm getting 1 a day. Unacceptable! Don't these birds know that we eat their eggs???? Haha, maybe they do and that's why they aren't laying for us all? It's a chicken strike!
I'm getting about ready to ship mine outside, the dust is out of control and it's not even started as far as winter goes. Thankfully their in my hobby room in addition w/door closed. Although I'm going to have a good mess to clean come spring. These picky buggers won't even eat crumbles after being spoiled on ff. They sit and wait for me to give it to them and turn their noses to any other food. Sad part is the thought crossed my mind to buy some hatching eggs or try some out of them blrw pen as the pullet is now laying finally. Good thing I come to my senses quickly. Same here with slow laying, still only getting a max of 3 on a good day.Mel,
We will need pictures of all of the chicks when they hatch...you are crazy to have them in the house all winter. By March you will be pulling out your hair when you are dusting an inch of sludge a day. You will be dusting for months after they are out too. Get a few extra filters for the furnace and replace them often when they are in the house. I told Joe today I am starting my hatching in February so I will not have them as long in the house.
My birds have slowed egg laying also. I have a few still with chicks and a few naked with molt. I hope they pick up next month. I probably have half of them not laying.
