Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I am having problems with Casha..it might be her time now. I am giving her a week.

Her vision is gone at night time so we have been putting her outside with *buddy* at 10pm at night with out a rope. Thursday night I let them out like normals and 5 minutes later let them in and no Casha. I assumed she took off..so I put my boots and coat on and went looking and calling...I found her on the side of the house in the neighbors yard in a heap.

She did not walk all day Friday but I took her outside for toilet breaks and she pottied. Yesterday and today she has not gone at all...Joe thinks the neighbor kicked her since he found foot prints.. I do not think so.... I think she had a stroke of some kind. It sure is tuff when you have old dogs..Hard to make decisions.

good afternoon, quite cold out there yet ..

I collected 6 eggs,,, well,,,almost.. I dropped the small pail and 4 of them broke.. I let the chickens clean them up..

I sold 9 chickens yesterday.. apparently none of them were the layers.. they were about 2 years old.. I think maybe 2 of them were still laying..

one of the guineas made a break for freedom yesterday.. the last I saw of her , she was in the pine tree.. no sign of her today..

the water warmers seem to be working just fine.. only the geese keep knocking the water can off of the heater.. I moved it tight to the wall, so maybe now they won't go behind it ..

I counted chickens today.. as best as I can tell; 3 barred rock pullets, 14 Delaware pullets, 15 Buff Orpington pullets. 2 BO roosters, 2 barred rock roosters, and 2 Delaware roosters. 1 tom turkey, 1 hen turkey..

in the other coop; about 50 guineas and 14 geese ..

makes about 104 total birds..

inside the house, we have 3 baby cockatiels,
cockatiels laying more eggs
and parakeets laying eggs..

I wish the chickens were as productive as the inside birds..

the Pack is scheduled for 3:3o today.. have hope, but don't get your expectations up too high..

I am glad I brought it up then. I would have seen you there had I turned the correct direction on hwy 69 the first time.

They had a pile of pants only in my size for 5 bucks each so, I scored 3 pair and some ear warmers that go over a ball cap. All for less than 20.

speaking of ballroom. when I need more, My wife has to buy a bigger purse.

Cluck meeting was fun! Can't wait for another get together. I'm going to offer my coffee maker to Susan since I'm getting a new one for Christmas :)

Girly talk : i had a total hysterectomy in March (38y/o @ the time) but had endometrial cyst removed from ovary. (Other procedures done at same time )Happy with results and no hot flashes since i still have ovaries. A radical hysterectomy is when they are removed. Be sure of the procedure so you'll know what to expect after.

Christmas cookie baking day here!

I have sugar cookie cutouts, Cardomom cookies, orange cookies, chocolate crinkles, and ginger cookies all ready to bake up today. Then over the week I have two types of biscotti to make along with PB and Spritz cookies.....

I baked up a fruitcake yesterday to give to a friend....... it smelled so good I am going to make another one for us to sample!

Back to the grind!

Deli, I am so sorry Casha is not doing well........ she was so sweet at the bash! I know she had a wonderful life with you and Joe.

How was meeting up at the Cluck?

I am finally finished baking cookies for today.

Right now fruitcake #2 is in the oven. After that comes out I am making meatloaf for dinner.

I did get a call today from the Springer Rescue, the pooch is doing quite well!!!! They are excited to have him and will let me know how he is doing. I am so happy I could save him and give him a better life than the one he had here.

All I can say about hot flashes Dan and Vicky is that I hear they never go away for your whole life! I was experiencing one and I asked a client about it she said "My grandma got them until she was 90!" So I am not expecting them to go away any time soon...just call them "power surges" and pretend they are beneficial! Hey, maybe if we all took a road trip up to Dan's place we could raise the temp enough in his greenhouse so he could start spring planting?

Pretty quiet on here today...I have to head to the mill to get my feed. Then I can do chores!

Have a good one! TerriO

My mother had a period of flashes after she stopped taking the estrogen but that seems to be over now. Mine (at age 63) aren't even half of what they were when I was 35 and they continue to be fewer and farther between. The hubs and I continually wrestle with the thermostat as my normal body temp has changed (lowered) since the hysterectomy. Hot summers bother me terribly now but I was a five-layer freezy cat previously. Someone told me that there is a theory out there that the estrogen just holds back the hot flashes and you get them after you stop taking it so taking it just postpones the misery. Everyone is different. If you can manage to keep your ovaries you're much better off!

Aw, that's so sad, Deli. I'm sorry you're going through it - especially this time of year.
