good morning,, I suppose it will be a quiet day here with everybody at the "CLUCK".

I am waiting for the people from the UP to call.. they would have come yesterday, but their headlights and taillights went out and they are stranded in Schofield.. about 15 miles from us.

I don't expect the plastic to warp.. it doesn't get too hot inside the heater base.. there is cold air on the outside so that should keep it from overheating,, I have it plugged into a thermo cube which turns the light on at 34* F and off at 45* F ..

"warmer" temps are on the way for the end of next week.. In the 20's will feel like a heat wave for us for sure.. I hope it doesn't snow too much ..

it's snowing here, not sure we will get much, DH might have to go out on snow route depending on total.

sitting and having pancakes with the family, DD has not been feeling good since Thursday- coughing, sore throat and running a temp since yesterday afternoon. Hoping we all don't take turns with it.

egg production is starting again- we do use lighting, we set about 50 Blue Andalusian eggs for DD's 4-H poultry project

kids are asking about putting up the tree/decorating it today....will have to have DH get it set up.

maybe make some more Christmas cookies- the kids like to give their teachers something before break

Doing Xmas In Bruce today, I donate taking the photos with Santa and then return the photos to the parents the next day. Spent the evening setting up the Santa area and getting the games for the kids ready along with face painting.
I've lost 7 young ones so far and 1 7yr old Leghorn do to the cold. The 4 chickies in the house are doing great but as soon as the BLRW are out of jail, I'll send those out to their pen for the rest of the winter. Their mess is getting too much to control anymore.
Hope you all have a good time today at the get together.

It's a bit slick out there! Be careful if you're driving anywhere today! Every vehicle that takes the corner here by the store does a little fishtail - no one off the road, though, thankfully. I actually had customers in here in spite of the weather and roads.

I'm planning some card-making and/or scrapbooking afternoons here beginning in January to while away the doldrums. Anyone interested? I also want to have an Artist Trading Card workshop.

The chickaroos are starting to lay again. They're using the same nest (even the newbies) as usual and one was complaining earlier because another was taking too long in it. Back to normal around here. As it is warmer these days the heat light is off and the cabana has turned back into a boring old coop again. I'm sure they'll break out the blender again for New Year's Eve but the bikinis are in storage for the duration.

Stay warm and cozy!

PS - the hubs' knee surgery went very well and he's playing the cripple for all it's worth. He's not getting away with it as the doctor talked to me afterwards and told me he should start to be up and putting some weight on it today. ;-)

I'm finally home from the Xmas event and I served about 98 people. I believe we are up 11 from last years photos. I love doing this, the families are so glad to be able to have the photos with Santa to have for keepsakes. The "Friends of the Library" host this even every year and one lady, Alice, donates all the toys for the game prizes. She is such a wonderful lady, she also does other events throughout the year and donates it all. It's so nice to see people do this for the kids. I know when my kids were little we got instamatic photos which wore out over time. This way they get a nice portrait and I keep all the photos on my portable drive so if they want other picture packages, I also do family portraits if they want with Santa. This year went so much smoother than last as we had numbers and lines while last year it was a quite a mess as they would just walk in and budge in front of others that were waiting in line. Another good year, although I'm glad the day is over. I haven't had much sleep with the new baby as she is VERY fussy with the addiction. All in all she has quite a set of lungs on her. She has grown an inch since birth and gained nearly a whole pound. We got quite a bit of new snow so far and it doesn't look like it's letting up at all, 3 inches or better so far. Haven't even had time to check the weather to see how much we were even suppose to get. At least the temp is a bit better than it has been.

Glad your husbands surgery went well Irish.

Long week with dr appts for me. Had an endometrio biopsy done Wed, Mammogram Thurs and a endometric/cervical ultrasound Friday. I meet next Wed with the dr, looking like I have malignant cysts on my ovaries and uterus that may result in a total hysterectomy in February they are scheduling. They also found cysts on my ureters and in my kidneys(which was a birth defect) I'm trying to hold off for a bit as I don't want to be down too long with the baby here since my healing time with surgeries has been longer than normal. Sorry guys for the girly talk.

Thanks Sclark!

I hope the doctors get your lady issues all sorted out. Not fun, I know. I had a total at age 35. Now days it's not as dramatic a surgery as it was back then but still not a boatload of fun. Prayers for you, sweetie!

Since your experienced, do you really have to go on hormone pills after the surgery?

I did and I had the highest dosage while my mother took the lowest. My hot flashes were so bad that I could stand outside in mid January in my bare feet and not be able to cool down (we lived in Maine back then).

There are natural alternatives which are good to check out because of the risk of breast cancer but they made no impact on me. (My ins co tried to switch me to the generic, synthetic but that was a disaster.)

So I guess it depends on what you and your doctor decide. If you're past the hot flash stage you may not need them.
