Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good evening, my nice barock roo turned up dead today.. apparently he was inside the feed hopper the last time i added a 50 pound sack of feed.. I didn't see him in there, and I covered him up with the feed.. that was two days ago..

today all 14 of the geese made a dash for freedom when I was putting the water in the coop..
GOOD !!
tonight they are locked in the lean to.. It is "outside",, but I have bales of straw stacked up so there is a nice wind break.. tomorrow i will spread more straw on the floor,, I have to put some straw into both coops, too.. especially the guinea coop.. the sh!t in there is about 3 inches deep and wet.. that is from the geese always tipping the waterer over..
that problem seems to be over, I watered 3 times and the waterer stayed put.. I tied a bale string to the handle so they can't pull it off of the heater.. I have to find a short bungie cord with a hook to make the fastening go faster..

I was without internet connection for awhile tonight,, I figured there would be a hundred posts to catch up on.. where is everyone ?

10 eggs today..

they are really getting nice sized now.. I wouldn't mind seeing more pullet eggs , though..

I had my glass of ho-made wine already.. I should be ready for bed soon..

Hi All!

Yea, a little empty in here. I figured everyone was shopping or frozen!

Nice pics!

Going to stoke the fire and play a game... Night All!

Hello everyone! I guess I'm behind over 600 posts, so I won't even try... I hope everyone is doing well. It's been cold and we lost one chicken so far, but we had our doubts about her surviving another winter. So, hopefully it will be easier to talk to my kid about not getting any more bantams in spring. If I'm not back before Christmas, Merry Christmas all!

The newspaper driver made it but that was early it is simply beautiful snow globe out there right now... Bet we have a good 5 inches and it is falling heavy now.... I can bake to my hearts delight today. Stay cozy everyone and take care if you have to shovel, because this is a heavy one.

good snowy morning,

just having my first cuppa before doing anything ..

Annie baked a quad batch of sugar cookies last night.. toward the end, I got tired of cutting them out, so I found the two largest cookie cutters and finished the last two roll-outs in record time.. Never can have too many Christmas trees or snowmen, can one ??

No Cind, the rooster that died was not the "pretty" homicidal one.. Alas, it was the barock I was saving for breeding next spring.. I still have a back-up barock roo, but he is not near the looker as the dead one.. I have only a few, like 3 or 4 barock hens.. I am tempted to sell all of the barocks as a package deal and just keep the BO's and Dels ..

It is snowing here,, we are not supposed to get more than 3 inches .. I wish it wasn't so cold..
Plowing is no fun with a low wind chill going on..

the geese are not too happy about getting locked out of the guinea coop, but they will adapt..

I don't think I will ever get finished with shoveling. I have paths to the coops at least. Joe is going to try the blower on the driveway when he can I think. I need to get to fleet. I only have grains I sprout left for food.

The coop is thawing out and I could smell it this morning..not a good sign. I dislike the weather when the birds spend so much time in the coop.

Have a wonderful Christmas!!!!

Christmas is not about gifts and toys
It’s the time when people rejoice
Christmas is not about food and drinks
It’s not about this world as everybody thinks.
Christmas is about everlasting love
It’s thanking the Lord for what we all have
Christmas is about sharing and family
It’s about Christ who love us fully.
