Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Snowy Day All....over 6" here already....anybody need some?

Nice flock Cind. We have a few of those here too. None exactly like yours. I imagine one could get carried away with collecting them...kinda like chicken math in a different way.

The Bash is the week before your daughters graduation bl4...just sayin.

Just shoveled a ton of snow that finally slid off the roof in front of the garage door yesterday. Prolly a good thing that it didn't wait till this snowfall is over....the bank was prolly 3' high and weighed enough to make you want a tractor with a front bucket and live hydro for sure. Think I'll put that on my wish list. I'm not getting any younger am I.

Must be noon somewhere....time for a bloody mary. It's just one of those days.

Wow, I mailed off fecal sample yesterday around 3:45 it was delivered to WVDL this morning, and I am already starting to receive result reports in my email!!!!

First test for Cocci came back with "Few seen" not sure what that means (Few too many? or too few to treat?)? But they always call with a follow up when all results are completed. I was able to get Peekachu to eat more of the "mush" I made: homemade pedialyte, yogurt w/live culture, warm water and crumble feed.

I figured this site would be jumping today, what with everybody snow bound and all..

about 3 hours ago, I measured the snow on the car hood,, 5 inches even, and it has been snowing ever since ..
now the wind is picking up..

we are staying put.. I am not plowing until tomorrow.. I hope the wind dies down by then..

Great news so far, Ang. Your mash recipe sounds perfect.

Mel, you mean your cats and birdies don't get along like this?

Good news on DH's last gig: The bar owner must have had a really good night because he paid the band an extra $100. Whoo-hoo! That never happens. And they got 3 more shows scheduled as a result, too. One of which will be at a Harley dealership. Now if only we could ride the bike there.

Ok one last update: Spoke with the vet and there are no signs of roundworms (or other internal parasites) at all. Just the Cocci. Vet stated that with the small number seen, that he recommends going by how the flock looks. If everyone is healthy, alert, and not underweight-then don't treat. But since I have a sick bird, and some are slightly under weight-he recommend treating for Cocci. So crossing my fingers that this works and can get Peekachu back up and running full speed. He also stated that its very possible that Peek had a secondary respiratory infection so the 3 days of Tylan Ive treated him for should help also.

Happy snowing morning... uugg MORE snow . Had to shovel a path for the girls lol. They sure liked yesterday!
I am having a couple issues. 1 - I have an egg breaker/eater...............how on earth do I fix this!!! I am barely getting any eggs as it is and now miss egg eater is taking them all!!
2 - One of my chickens is losing all her feathers on her neck. It was this way earlier this fall but I didn't pay too much attention. She isn't even a year old. She doesn't act sick or itchy. Really just looks like a continuous molt... is that even possible??

New job is going ok. Learning new stuff is always frustrating. I will be looking for about 4 - 6 Black Copper Marans for the spring if anyone will have any to sell.

Looking forward to a nicer Wed.
Take care all!!

Apparently the snowstorm has decided to park itself over the SE corner of Waupaca County...... watching the radar you can see it continue to develop right over us.......

Oh thank goodness for Sinus medication........ drugs ARE good!

Jim where are the pancakes and sausage? It's 9 AM for Pete's sake! Slacker.....

TO, will you be able to take your trip in the next few weeks? I hope so! You deserve it! Your birthday dinner looked really yummy, but you did not share your cocktail with Tommy???

MG, I was just thinking the same thing about the seed catalogs yesterday when I was at Fleet Farm...... Almost time to get the greenhouses up and running. On top of that I have to incubate a batch of eggs this spring as well...... Oh what fun to have baby chicks at the house again! DH will be so thrilled.

CC, I hope the gig went well and there was a nice turn out!

Time for cuppa #2...

New vocabulary word from yesterday..... the family enjoys watching Top Gear UK version and the word of the day? Vajazzle!
I'm not vajazzling anything!!!!!!

I seem to spend my days alternating cats. I cannot wait for the two little ones to no longer be quarantined..... they were given their second worming dose this morning, and of course their ear mites are just a PITA! Poor Annabelle looks terrible because of the oil, she will be getting a bath when it is all over with. Jinx STILL has a bit of a pot belly and she has had the sneezes since we got her. I am SO hoping she does not have the wet form of FIV, she is so spunky and such a hoot to have around! I love how she swishes her stump with attitude!

I spent the morning making homemade Veg beef soup. My friend with 5 kids has a household full of sick people! The only person healthy is her! So I though I would help her out and bring her some good old fashioned soup. I boiled up the beef neck bones yesterday, and finished the soup this morning. I also made some cheddar garlic biscuits and some brownies to take over to her house along with the soup. Poor lady needs a break! She has everyone on antibiotics, a few on nebulizers, poor lady had to make up a dosing chart just to keep everything straight!

The BIG news of the day is............... I have a face to face interview with Kimberly Clark!!!!

January 20th!!!!

Good Luck
Thanks Irish.... not sure what I'm going to do with all of them, I don't dust much so that could be an issue.

Yep Dan, that's where you get wooden eggs! These are mostly roosters but I would guess once the hens get settled I'll have wooden eggs for Easter! Hope that little legless one lays, she seems OK with her little cart though.

CC... I seem fine for the most part, then blah! An hour or 2 later, I feel OK again.

Guess that's it.... Night All!
You could always use them as white elephant gifts!

Got 5 eggs yesterday and no snow today Yoo Hoo!!!!

Much warmer temps lately and I took the lamps out too.

I've got an appointment Saturday to go to the dealership about my new van. Let's see if they are willing to sell me a car at the price I'm willing to pay!

How are the shells on the eggs you are getting? Are your girls getting enough calcium? What do you feed your birds? If you don't mind me asking. The eggs might be getting cracked/broken from hens stepping on them in the nest boxes if the shells are weak. Then it will become an all-u-can-eat diner.

Is this girl molting, or could someone be pulling her feathers out? Is she lower on the pecking order? I had a roo who would let thegirls pull his neck feathers out. I assumed it was from not enough protein in their diet. When I increased the protein, the feather pulling stopped.
