Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I plowed everything,, was done way before noon,, had at least 9".. all I can say is I feel sorry for you city dwellers.. where are you going to put it ? I have 9 acres to pile it on.. I have strategic piles here and there,, a couple of them are just about maxed out ..

8 eggs today..

Annie broke the door handle on my Blazer.. I have an appt to get it fixed, or at least looked at, tomorrow.. I have the door tied shut with a nylon tow strap.. a real redneck fix, for sure..

unbeknown to me, the door was open after I parked the car.. when I discovered it,, the battery was already dead.. have the charger on it now.. almost done .. 97% the last time I looked ..

It was/is not too cold out.. prolly because you can actually feel the heat from the sun.. can spring be far away ??

last year at about this time, the geese began laying eggs.. I don't think they are in such a hurry this year..

Ugh! I need a vacation! I've been home sick the past two days, and spent it (with a fever I might add) hand feeding my roo/checking hime very couple hours, collecting fecal samples, medicating and changing water several times per day (couldn't use metal waterer and plastic dog dish didnt hold much water), then tonight found my big beautiful blue cochin with at least one torn toenail which I tried using bluKote & Stop Bleed(Yes my hands are all stained purple now-thanks Q.E.) and then trying to catch the barn cat to lock her in with food since the barn is sealed up tight during the cold weather. These pets need to get with the game or else I will need to hire a full time care giver for them!! Back to work tomorrow too. Peekachu was eating like he was starving tonight (not drinking much though) then found him on the floor in a corner when I locked him up=put him back up on the roost and he has his head hanging down off/below the roost again. Hope the Corid helps things out.

Feel better soon, Angiebuns!!

Hey cc rabbit question(s). I found a lady on cl. I was interested in her "mini rex". She explained how she was getting over run. I backed off a little. She insisted she could not send pics. Then a few days later, she called and begged me to come take them. Marital issues. Upon arrival, we discover there is a litter. 3 does and one buck in that pen. 2 babies dead. Pen underneath, 3 bucks. Two with genitalia injuries.
Question 1; is it ok to use surgical sollution in that area? Should I allow it to scab? I'm thinking keep it open. No sign of infection. Very fresh wound.
Question 2; another buck has a wound right on the penis. Surgical sollution ok there? I am thinking maybe not...
All are separated. And seem to be doing ok. I am a bit nervous. Because she was completely out of food and could not send any to mix. I am feeding free choice hay to up the fiber to hopefully prevent stress induced diarrhea. And electrolytes.
Open to other suggestions :)

So glad you could rescue the bunnies! I always fed mine pellets and supplemented with alfalfa hay and greens (like dandelions & clover when available). I never kept them penned together so I can't help you with the genital injury questions. Good luck!!

We were all just waiting for you, Jim.

I was out shopping, so no posting.

Thank you everyone, I did manage to find a nice little jacket and pants set at J.C. Penney's, along with a couple of sweater tees that were on clearance (score). Then ran to the other side of the mall to Payless and picked up some super cute shoes that were also on sale. Not too shabby!

I also met up with my former boss for lunch; we chatted for 2 1/2 hours (imagine that...). It was really nice to see him and catch up.

That was pretty much my day.

You look like you're online now, Jim, but I didn't see you right after you posted either.

DH was grumbling before he went out to do the chicken chores. I turned on the chicken cam to see if he would need anything, and I see him walking around the coop with a chicken on his shoulder. At first I assumed it was Pinky, my seabright hen from Frenchie, but no. It was one of my lav orps.

They aren't huge like my blacks, but they're pretty good size. He was bending over repeatedly to look into each nest box, so finally on one of the times he put his head down, she jumped off onto a roost. She was up there for a long time, though. He kept walking around back & forth and she just stayed there. Too funny. Then when I asked him who his buddy was, he said Pinky. Um, no dear, she was way too big, not to mention the wrong color. He didn't even know who he was giving a lift to. Men.

On the plus side, the egg count has gone up a little. Instead of 3-4 eggs a day, we are now getting 5-6. Whoo-hoo!

Nice score on the shopping, Mel. Good luck on the interview!

Hi All!

Nothing exciting here. #1 son got the craving for a Subway sub so he treated us to Subway for supper. Guess we have the pork steaks Thur.
I guess we got a load of wood while it was snowing and he didn't try to take it to the back. We have a cord of wood on the front lawn!

Now we have to drag it through the garage to the stove and there is no place to pile in the front so we have to use that wood first. Oh well, guess it could be worse.

Tired.... Night All!

Currently kittens and cats are getting introduced. No big blow ups yet, just a little bit of hissing (I expect that). Annabelle is fascinated with Grover, she has become his shadow (to his dismay). Jinx being the more timid one, is just content to watch the bigger cats pass by.... and poof up for them. When she does that, her little nub becomes a pom-pom.

Nice relaxing day here with the hubs.

Time for cup #2.
