Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Teacher, if the kids will be doing 4-h, contact the tester for the group you belong to. They will walk you through everything. Call the # baby lady 4 posted. They will hook you up elwith a premise id #. It was quite easy. Oir tester came right to the house. And ours didn't cost. Because of it being 4-h.
Very good advice on the dogs jim

I think pup is ok with our kids. But our kids also have lots of dog experience. And when I tell them to leave them be, they know to listen. I did not worry one bit with them around dora.
I fogot who asked about the lgd. Ours is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. In the beginning he ate our chickens. After much discipline and long work, he is now perfect. He stays out while we are gone (weather permitting). He keeps the coyote out. The neighbors dog ( she has done more dammage to our flock then all other predators combined). And he does not allow people he does not know on the property with out our permission. He is a wonderful dog. And irreplaceable. He sleeps indoors at night. The chickies are locked tight. But free range all day.
I will work on chick pics tomorrow

they are soo cute!
I am not too worried with Pup either, except I don't know what he would do if a child tried to touch his food.. with me, he backs away from his food if I approach him..

I should rent a kid for a month to help teach the dog some more manners..

Syd would thoroughly enjoy herself! And she is a big help with chore ;)

Jim, are your mittens attached to the "one piece" snowsuit?

Awwww, c'mon Jim. You're a big boy. You can take it.

Cind, I too was hoping we could have done the goop party, but the fall went so darn fast. Just too much to do that time of the year. Like Terri said, maybe this summer sometime if it's not too hot. I am really looking forward to learning how you make it. I just love that stuff. Thanks again for sharing.

Happy Valentine's Day, cheesies! Can't chat, unfortunately. Gotta get up early tomorrow. Lots to do.

Hi All!

I'm sick so my foggy head only has a couple things to say... Jim, yep sounds like your right on track with training! Give them a place in the pack with you at the head. I keep trying to give Rudy lessons but I keep getting under minded by the rest of the gang.

TO&CC....The Bash? Maybe I can have broke down in steps, It's the cooking (evaporating) that takes so long. Just a thought.

Night All!

well it is Sat and it is STILL cold :-( uugghh. There is a warm up coming right????

Gonna spend the day in a gym watching wrestling though so it will be warm in there LOL :)

Time to go feed the chickens and see if yesterdays 6 eggs were a fluke :)

Not picking on the old guy, I was referring to one of Bill Cosby's routines on 'idiot mittens'.

I swear it is going to be winter all year! I'll be doing the Bock run on March first in a blizzard!

Thinking about taking the kids snowshoeing today...... a good way for them to burn off some energy.

I have 3 kiddos (13,11, 10) and I am more than willing to lend them out. They REALLY need to learn what a hard day of work is. Preferably to work with someone that will ignore the whining and expect them to work for food!

I dislike the new waterer that I got from F&F. I seems like every time I fill it and flip it over it separates and water splashes everywhere. I loved my old one, but the heating element went out

I normally have a cuppa and eat prior to doing chores, but this morning I was worried about the hens and rabbits as the kids have been feeding and refilling the water and I noticed last night that the water was frozen up because someone didn't plug in the waterer. I plugged it in before DH and I went out to dinner last night, but didn't check it when I came home. It was thawed this morning , but needed to be refilled of course. It actually felt good to get the chores done prior to a cuppa! Maybe I'll switch my routine around?

DH & I went to a Japanese restaurant that had an all you can eat sushi bar. Oh Yum! We got 3 different types of sushi rolls, edamame (steamed soybeans w/ salt), and miso soup. I got a Cosmo and DH got a Dew. Then DH dragged me to see the Lego movie

Boring. I feel asleep in it! There were a bunch of kids laughing (my husband with them mostly), but if you don't like kid humor and Legos, I'd recommend that you skip this one!

With all of this talk about hatching and puppies, it makes me want to join in, get a puppy, hatch some chicks, etc...........Nooooooo! I won't do it! Seriously, I love my animals, love cuddling with them, etc, but I am getting tired of cleaning up after their indoor messes. All of our additional 4 legged critters will live outdoors (except maybe in cold weather or at night or whenever I let them in...I'm a sucker). As far as chickens, I'll have to wait until the city legalizes them to get more than the number I have already or they'll be cramped.

What...we'll have temps above 32? I'll believe it when I feel it and see the snow melting! Keep in mind, with all of this snow, to shovel it away from your house. As it melts it will come into your home. I've got to get it out of our window wells, clear out the gutters as they are melting, and free up all of the crap that is frozen in place (fence doors, my non-heated waterer, a broken garbage can, dog poop mines, and of course the coop). Keep safe and pace yourself this week everyone!

Well sorry for the FT post, where is she BTW?
