Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

2ish?
Can we push that to1ish? Or 12ish?..lol
I have purchased the 12 hour heaters for the chicks so they will be taken care of..

Speaking of shipped chicks and dying

this is simply not the time of year to be getting chicks in Wisconsin. The stress of mailing and cold will make the chick shipment pretty shocky.  Constant dipping head and making them drink several times an hour should do the only thing you can do. Because it is a few days it has to be lack of drinking and still in shock. Chicks need reminders. There moms tell them all day long to drink..they make special call noises to get them to eat and drink.and to show them what is good and what they should be eating and drinking.

Del, there is no way I can make it earlier. Either way, syd has little dribblers. I will bring more heat packs, and I am sure terri will borrow me a heat lamp for while we are there ;) I'll bring some electrolytes for their water. It will be just like at the bash! (Only at Terri's) lol
Do you plan to stay and hang out for a bit? Hope so! I am looking forward :D wish we could have got those marans. Roomer has it carol might show up with one! ;)

Cuties,

I will see you when you get there..

She is just too busy to set up her pens..the weather is just too nasty for some people to even bother setting up breeder pens. I can't set mine all up yet since three of them are burried in snow.
I have a few cross breed Marans chicks I can bring
One is a male... one is a female that I know of.
The female does not have leg feathers..
I can bring you OE eggs if I have them. I have Marans set up with my Ameracuana's. They have just started to lay. I have not tried to set any..my incubator is full of orps and dotties.

Thanks, ill pass. I want to hold out, and work mostly on pure breeds. I'm looking for the marans to pare with our pure hen, and two olive eggers from to. That way I only need one roo! Lol
Do you have pure black orps? Or all bbs? Scott is getting me lavender for my very early bday present ♡ I will need good pure black to breed back to. I happened across an awesome english pure black rooster. But would be in the market for a black line hen. Also, can I use the black roo with the bbs?
Thanks!

Good luck on that interview.

Ok wierd question for guinea owners..are the eggs bigger than normal chicken eggs. I got an oddly shaped huge egg today. If it is a chicken I am guessing triple yoke ...but really oblong and not symmetrically oblong but wierd...will get pic tomorrow
very likely not a guinea.. Turkey maybe ? or just an odd chicken..

we use bed liners for in the chick TV's .. just fold them to fit the fish tank with the cotton side up for traction.. then just roll it up and toss it when you clean the TV .. they are quite inexpensive. and you do not have to wash anything ..

I just sold 10 red stars a few minutes ago.. a buck apiece.. they were not laying and I didn't want to continue feeding them..

they will be in the freezer by noon..

Have to take a shower (Ahhhh) and get ready for the Dr appt..

this afternoon I am sending Annie to pick up as many bales of straw as she can fit into her trunk of the car.. (4 minimum).. I will bust them apart and spread them over the top of the puppies' shelter in the lean to.. that should keep them warm..
I have the 2 ft x 4 ft chicken brooder as the ceiling of the bale walled enclosure.. lots of straw on the ground.. I hope they have the sense enough to go poop outside their house..

when the pups are through with this shelter, I will toss one of the breeds of chickens in there as a breeding pen..

then I will have to come up with only one more breeding pen..
One of the breeds can free range and still use the main chicken coop..

not much new here-couple units to get ready and paper work

well, as of 15 minutes ago, all of the puppies are moved to their new home in the leanto..
they seem a bit bewildered , but they will adjust ..
the temperature in there is above 70 F..

I will be checking on them quite often for today and tonight..

I took a picture of each of the males as we took them out.. A lady from GB might want to buy one of them.. so I already sent the pictures to her..

here is one of them..

he was not happy about being on the couch and was barking at me..

done !! we went and stuffed 7 bales of straw into Annie's car..6 in the trunk one on the back seat.

got them stacked on top of the puppies' bale house.. It is cozy warm in there.. they know enough to in and out, but I will check on them a couple of times after dark.. they were not in the warm house all afternoon.. they seem oblivious to the cold.. they are enjoying the extra space and there are a lot of wrestling matches going on..

Dora seems happier with them out there , too.. she pushed the gate down and was lying in with them ..

and Puppy (BJ) is happy to have so many playmates his mental age to play with..

I will leave the gate up until they know where home is.. prolly a couple of days should do it..

Dr appt went well,, I got the OK to drive.. I can even plow snow as long as I don't wave at the neighbors with my left arm ..
