Just lmk. I have no prob picking them up. She has 13 set. And a 80% ish hatch rate. I will keep you posted Sunday. Keep your phone on!! Will you be around tomorrow? 3:45ish. I could stop on the way through. Is the little gravel road open yet? Do you happen to have any more extra eggs? :D

Bigz, that was a great video!
Vicki, you could explain to joe about Echo. He is a wonderful protector of our property. And this is how he protects our chickies from coyote and the husky. But he is in no way bonded to the flock. His pack is human and dog. Last summer he layed by the back door while a hawk ate poor Sydney's Australorp hen. It was brutal. But hopefully will help joe to understand to let cookie do the proper bonding. I know that is why you have her. Echo did not see the hawk as a threat to his pack.
Nighties!

Perv alerts, Annie putting a leash on Jim, bloody marys, sangria........... yep, spring must be in the air, Zeke.

DH separated the seabrights a few weeks ago and now Pinkie is laying again finally. He thinks I should pop them in the bator but I was thinking of waiting a bit yet. Not sure. All this hatching chat gets addicting, though. Maybe for Easter?

Here are the new additions as promised:

Zoey:

Zoey & Puma:

Puma:

Zoey is very tiny, like 5 lbs, while Puma is the exact opposite.

We are trying to get her trimmed down, but it is a slow process. She doesn't eat that much, but she was confined to a smallish area for a couple years by her previous owners so she isn't very active yet. We're working on that too. On the plus side, the hair that was missing above her eyes is growing back.

Zoey has only been here a week and she's pretty much running the show............. so much for her being shy and timid.

CC, glad to see the new additions.

Cuties, I am trying to figure out what you need a styro bator and turner for since you have that giant incubating machine at your house? I have one you may borrow as well, and it comes rigged with computer fan.

Say does anyone here know where I can get meat rabbits already processed? I see there is a place down by Madison, but I cannot find anyone local. I will raise them myself if I have to, but wanted to check out all other sources first. I want to feed the cats ground raw rabbit (good thing Frenchie is taking a break from BYC). It is the most complete quality protein available for cats, and if this is what it takes to keep the geriatric crowd healthy then so be it.

That is all for now. Thanks for the dinner idea BigZ, the burgers were scrumptious!

We are suppose to be getting rain, sleet and snow today. Calling for 1-3 inches for us, like we don't have enough already. Ughs once again.

Talking about Rainbow flocks, I'm sure I have one too as I have an array of egg colors. I also realized that my Lemon Cuckoo Orp is not a cockerel and in fact a pullet. Not sure what good that does me when the only Orp cockerel I have is a Buff but boy is he looking nice, glad I kept him after all. I did a head count yesterday and am down to 38 chickens, mid summer I was over 250. I've lost so many to the cold, most of which were the chicks that were hatched so late. And now that I finally have a Lav Orp pullet I lost all 3 of my roo/cockerels. I will just keep her for eggs.

I never heard talk of the fact they passed a bill to allow sale of eggs at flea markets now. We have alot of them around here in the summer and I know a few people that always wanted to sell at them which will now allow it. A few rules are intact along with it but not really stickler. From what they said just normal healthy egg keeping practices that most do anyhow. Temps below 41, no eggs older than 30 days, and you can't have more than 250 chickens on your premises.

Hi everyone, long time no post...I started a new job...started to coach a new team...and started to remodel an old house...Chickens are fine and laying about 55%...coop needs some love... cannot wait for Spring to REALLY start...Any word on the 5th annual bash?
