Which herbs do you plant for chickens. I know parsley is good for them...what else? I plant rainbow chard around the coop and run for snacks and pretty!
Kendra posted a good link
I plant ..lemon balm (Thanks Kendra)
Lavender
Oregano
Thyme
Dill
Cilantro
Rosemary
Nasturtium (I need)
Hyssops (I need)
Feverfew
Guta Gola (you seen this in the picture with the chicks)
Garlic

Seller for my shaken, not stirred eggs has offered very nicely to send another dozen, so if these eggs don't develop I get another chance. :)

Wet, soggy day out there today, but at least it's not snowing! That was yesterday.

I hear Nasco is having a clearance sale...trying to resist. I could rummage through art supplies all day.
Glad some made it..

good afternoon,

it was nice to be outside for awhile today.. I was waiting for a phone call from the VA so I couldn't stay out long..

speaking of phone calls .. I had a strange one a few minutes ago.. some guy in broken English offered to talk me through a problem I was having with my computer.. It sounded fishy to me, so I told him to hold on a minute and I went and told my GS what was going on .. He said, is it like a private caller ? I said yes.. he said hang up.. I didn't have to, the caller had hung up already..
He said that scamers do that and get all kinds of information from people.. beware..

I turned Bo loose,, and all of the puppies are up on the deck right now.. guineas are flying in and out of the pine tree and the chickens are sitting in the tractor bucket, catching a few rays..

the gray goose is building a nest.. can spring be far off ?

I made the bbq .. had a couple of them,, will be ready for another one shortly..
BBQ and a root beer. not quite like balony , ho-made bread and beans, but a close second..

a guy on another thread had a chicken die within a year after it was hatched..He figured that it might have been too weak to hatch in the first place... ?

I think I talked myself into being hungry ..

I gotta agree with u Jim. It actually stayed nice outside all day long! What a pleasant surprise for a change!

Gonna make some brownie refrigerator cake in a few. The chocolate craving is taking over. Lol.

Still breaking my few brain cells on what to use as a somewhat waterproof nesting box, since we still got 2 feet of snow (and now ice again too) that will be melting and muddying up everything. We just wanna make sure the nest including eggs and ducky don't sink in the mud...

Now just hope for a nice relaxing evening, with brownie in one hand and a glass of milk in the other... Hmmm

2 and a half hours with out a post.. I was just going to go upstairs to see what is on the tube..

JJ beans in the hay sounds good to me.. I am not planting green beans this year.. everyone here prefers the yellow ones..

I have a half dozen bales covering the septic tank that I can use.. they will be rotted in plenty of time for planting.. by this time next week they will be good and soaked..

not being able to use my left arm sure is holding up a lot of projects around here.. and it is giving me a good excuse to not work too hard, too..

still have to lock up the chicken coop.. Annie said she could not get the hook into the eye last night. It didn't occur to her to back the eye out a couple of threads ..

the VA finally got around to giving me an appt. next wednesday..
sure had to plead for that one..

Well I picked up 4 doz eggs today to hatch out. I plan on waiting until tomorrow to join the Easter hatch-a-long. 2 doz are Bo, Prod Reds, Prod Blacks, Barred Rocks hens & Prod Red roo. The other 2 doz are Bo, prod reds, EE Hens & EE roo. Should be quite the assortment of barnyard egg layers. I adjusted the turning tray and now have 7 inches of movement. I would think even the middle ones would get enough turn now, I hope.

Long day at the clinic fighting with them over this Scabies thing to get meds for the house. Finally got them after 4 hours of nonsense. Today was the last day for Marshfield Clinic. As of April 1st the kids will be going to Mayo. I called early am to get meds for Me, Anellia and the boys. They called back and said I had to go thru their pediatrician. Call and left them a message to get the meds per the urgent care nurse. At noon I went in to town, had a few other things to do. Noone give the pediatrician the message. She was on lunch until 1pm and her nurse was on lunch then until 2. Come back at 2 to get the script. I came back at 2 and about 2:45 they finally give me a script for only Anellia. I said what about the rest of us, no point to treat one and not the rest, nurse was so snobby to me and made me wait another half hour to get the other 3 scripts. Went over to pharmacy and they didn't have script yet, have a seat and wait. 20 minutes later I went and asked if they had it yet, it was just coming thru the fax. I asked how long for that to be filled, well 20 minutes or so. Meanwhile Anellia is throwing a fit screaming, she hasn't been feeling well since her shots on Wed. So I go drive around for another 20 minutes to try and soothe her, come back and they give Anellia 2 tubes of the stuff and us older 3 one. Makes no sense to me the whole day was aggravating. On top of it I get a call from the nurse saying my daughters skin test come back neg for Scabies. Her and the bf came in to urgent care today and they said he had flea bites and daughter has mites. He has the same rashes and bumps as my daughter so how can they not have the same thing. I don't think anyone there knows what is going on. Our dr said it takes 2 weeks to no longer be contagious and daughters dr said after first treatment of the cream your no longer contagious but also told her to retreat in 7 days to kill the ones that rehatched. I have never dealt with this before but it kinda seems like head lice, if you don't be careful to get it all it will just be a vicious cycle and keep re-infecting each other. I did ask the Soc Worker if we could cancel next weeks visitations in order to not keep spreading it back and forth. Anyhow enough rambling. At least it was a nice day today! Keep them coming.

What idiots! Sorry to hear that Stacie. They can really be stupid as stupid gets! Never had that many problems getting a script but I don't have 2legged kids (the un furry kind).

The only problem I'm having with them is that evidently there is only ONE working neurologist that wants to either stick needles as big as knitting needles, straight into my arm muscles without any pain meds or knocking me out of course, or do nothing at all for my loosing more and more strength and grip yet having increasing tendon and muscle pain in both my hands and arms! So yeah, not too thrilled about that either, since the wonder-doc didn't even bother to tell me how the tests work before scheduling and simply ran out on me. Just wonderful! If only I had the choice of going to a different provider...
