I better get going!

Have fun... bigz
Yep, perfect tree planting weather for sure..

I noticed a few of my branches have to be trimmed.. the oak behind the garage, so I can drive under it without getting pushed off the tractor seat.. and my apple tree is way overdue for a haircut .. I like to have bro Dave do the apple tree.. he is relentless,, I always do not take enough off..

then I have about 80 black walnuts that haven't been trimmed for a couple of years..

I don't mind trimming the trees, I just end up with sooo many branches to pick up..
where are all those kids who were going to be farmed out ? I will bid for a week with them..
can't pay much, but the food is non-stop..

only 2 guinea eggs today.. the good thing is they were in the chicken coop. so now I know for sure that I have at least 6 guinea hens.. that is only about 20% of my flock, though..

can hardly wait for nice weather,, so much to do outside ..

I always help the "poor, stuck little guys" out. Well, at least with my call ducks.
It depends on the definition of his "stuck". Mostly it means since he has no patient bone in his body (again, talking bout SO) he wants to see and meet the babies as soon as he possibly can. Even if the little one just started to crack open the egg. Doing more damage than good this way. Luckily I was able to save one duckling from our last hatch from any damaging after effects.

Sorry Jim, didn't mean to sound so harsh and rude! Can u forgive me?! *eyes batter smiley here" I'm really not that mean a person, unless you piss me, my family and my animals off! Lol. But I think most of us are that way, or am I wrong on this?

Not sure how different call ducks are from regular ducks, pheasants or chickens, but my SO had us loose about 3 hatchlings last year due to his impatience. And one more almost didn't make it. I wish there was a way to lock the hatcher tight with an unbreakable lock just for him...

Ok, he's out of control. I candle my eggs, looking for an internal pip. If after 24 hours of internally pipping they haven't cracked the shell, I make a small hole with a screw in the shell. After 2 more days if they haven't gotten out, I go in for them. But I'm very careful not to go too fast. They need time to absorb the yolk. I only do this on call ducks. Chicks and other breeds of ducklings shouldn't need additional help unless they start to get shrink wrapped etc.

Well candled the 22 that go into lockdown on Friday for the first time and one SS was un-fertile and one SS I accidentally killed when pulling eggs last week for a different hatch. I forgot to write down that I had 2 #11 eggs and had my son throw it out before realizing it was for a later hatch. Had him go get the egg and put it back in bator, well we killed it. So 20 eggs are going strong. Haven't candled the 81 eggs that I set last week yet. I'm slowing down on my incubating excitement a bit and not over candling like I usually do the first part of hatching season. The guy that was suppose to buy the dozen Prod chicks never showed up or called and they are really growing. I have to get rid of some of these before the next batch hatches as I don't know where I'm going to put them all. I never expected this weather to turn this way and have to keep them in the house. I may have to devise a plan of turning my tack shed into a hatching shed once the weather warms up for future use. I don't really use the shed for anything but storage right now anyway and just keep the chicken feed in there. I plan on having a mega garage sale in June and getting rid of at least 50% of the stuff I have acquired over the years as I just don't need it anymore. I sold another saddle last week so I'm now down to 4 of 11. I sent home tons of stuff with my fil and sil as they have horses also but ride more than I do these days and will put it to good use.

This weather is pushing me to my limit. My driveway is a complete mess. And now with all the non stop rain my addition roof is pouring in rain from every spot it can think of. I have bowls everywhere to catch the water. I thumb tacked garbage bags over all the drips to direct it into on drip into a 20 gallon tote in one spot. Thankful in other spots one bowl will catch the leaks but what a headache I don't need right now. I was going to get a home equity loan to build a new garage since the pole shed caved in but now I think I'm going to have to put a new roof on the addition instead. Always seems like getting hit constantly with bad luck or something.

Sorry to hear about your Jeep Cuties, I can't say anything bad as mine is still going and hope it will for a little while longer as it's the only thing right now that is getting me down my driveway.

The last bad spurt I broke the axle in my truck so have to get that fixed yet. I have the axle but the weather hasn't cooperated enough to get it changed. The skidsteer is still sitting at the end of the driveway. I'm pretty sure it's the seat belt safety switch but don't have enough care right now to go fix it. I can't use it anyhow until it dries out so it's saving me from burying it in the mud. I had a little episode last week with it and had it nearly tipped on its side as I fell thru a frost hole, hubby had to bring out the big truck to get me out.(his 1ton ext cab long box 4x4 ford with 38 mud tires) I really had no faith it would pull it out but was a breeze. I'm thinking if I just jump the wires and bypass the switch if that would work, will surely find out when the time comes.

On top of it I get a reg letter in the mail from a tow yard in New Richmond stating they have my daughters Blazer and we have to come up with over 600 to get it back. Well we sold that last fall to a guy there. I guess he was drunk and did a hit and run, ditched the Blazer in a park. Well he never registered the vehicle! I explained to them we sold it and give them the guys name, they said they had good idea of who he was and that he was in Dodge jail for other things. Also got notice from insurance co that they want nearly 5grand for the damage done to the other vehicle. Called them also and got everything straight. What a mess, we were lucky though as we had him sign the title when he bought it and also a state form bill of sale which covered our butts. If we hadn't done that my daughter could be stuck with the whole shibang.

Any news on the Blazer Jim?

Well enough of my mishaps. Hope everyone don't float away. I said pretty soon I'm going to need a boat to get around my yard if this keeps up. I'll have to take some pics of it to show you how bad it is. It's not enough we live in a swamp in the first place but come on STOP RAINING already!

Hi All! it

Wild.... how about a padlock on the hatcher?

Sclark... you sure have a mess going on! LOL Such is life. Hope things smooth out soon.s

Well, Miss Piggy's head is done and will be consumed Tue. We smoked it last night since the rain would be off and on and light here. During the day it was suppose to be pretty steady, It looks and smell great! The sample cut was so good! I made German potato salad to go with it. I do think we maybe could have pulled it a little sooner, or it may have gotten some flame. The skin was kinda black.

I saw a recipe for headcheese made with smoked brain so I thought I'd try it.

Night All!

good morning, all caught up with reading posts..

Kendra, that puppy will miraculously turn white again.. I don't know how they do it,
Our Gus will go out in the rain and lay down on the driveway,, weather doesn't seem to bother him much .

Stacy, I checked in on the Blazer yesterday.. I just wanted to tell them that they should change out the gas tank if they think it is too rusty.. $100.oo now is better than what it would cost to do all of the same labor later.. they were way ahead of me.. already had a tank supplier, just in case..

I am going to ask for the old parts.. then I am going to take them to the restaurant and plop them on the table in front of Dick and tell him he can sell them to somebody else.

The guy from LaCrosse emailed me.. can't come to pick up the plucker right now.. they are sharing one vehicle until her car gets out of the shop.. GM recall ..

I got my 3rd set of lenses.. same problem,, have to turn my head slightly and look sideways to see through the focus point in the glass.. puts quite a strain on my eyes after a short while..
Thanks, Lens Crafters.. of course it is not their fault,, It is mine.. because I cannot adapt to the material they used to make the lenses.. WTH ??

I told the woman that if this is all the better I wanted to see, I could have saved a lot of $$$ and bought some glasses from the dime store for a $ buck ..

Cold rainy morning all. And yes, it is hovering between rain and flakes. What a mess!

I hear u on the driveway Stacie! We have a halfway flooded backyard now with 3 newly developed "ponds" that quickly turn into lakes right now.

Rofl Jim! The pic that came to mind there was just too funny! I'm still laughing as I see you inside my head with a bird body and your regular head, tilting your head like the duckies just to be able to see straight out of them completely cross eyed! What an image to put in my head this morning... (Still laughing).

Yes cindlady, I thought about that too. But he would find ways and bolt cutters to take them off just to get there. Not telling him won't work as it's the last thing he does before he leaves for work and the first thing when he comes in the door and has his shoes off: take a flashlight and take a good peak around in the hatcher, calling to the birdies to get out...

Yup, snowing now. Yucky big white flakes. Do we REALLY have to have a repeat of last years spring?!? I veto against that!

Alright, just wanted to put my 2 cents of the morning in... Hope you don't get that yucky stuff where you are...
