HeII, I don't even know where to find GF flour .. .

I imagine that you cannot cook GF cakes right after gluten cakes on a grill..correct ?

IF I can perfect a recipe by the end of May, I would cook both kinds..

Here you go Jim, how to make your own GF pancake mix.

I would advise against cooking GF pancakes after you cook wheat flour pancakes on the same griddle, unless you plan on washing it first.

Bob's Mill makes a GF pancake mix, no fuss on your end. Trying to find all the different flours for GF cooking is a challenge, the best place I have found them at is Woodman's. If you go to Woodman's, check the Asian foods isle for some of the tapioca starches etc. it is much cheaper than the stuff in the health food isle.

Morning all!
Wow, I seem to be the first to post this morning. Where did ever awake and cuppa drinking Jim go at least?!?

Anyways. Uneventful night with another 3 duck eggs going into lockdown. One moved around good inside when I put it into our hatcher, and this morning Mr Impatient already started cracking the shell! Now I'm just hoping tha it hatches before I gotta run some errands for the next couple of days in the city. Gosh, I so wanna see the spots on that guy!

Nothing yet on the pheasant eggs (2) in lockdown. We shall see what happens!

Alright, off to do chores and take care of the birdies outside. Ttyl!

good morning, all cuppa'd up already.. I didn't post because I have no news..
ducks and chicks do not need help cracking their shells.. You are going to kill more than you save by doing that.. but, suit yourself .. they are yours to kill, I suppose ..

NasT outside today,, I noticed, no guineas up in the windy pine tree this morning..

guess I will bite the bullet and go out and water and feed the penned up ones..

got 6 guinea eggs yesterday ..

we will have to watch for the wild hidden nests, now ..

Morning everyone!!

Cold and wet here today... and I guess all week through Sunday. I feel for those that live in northern WI.. heard you are getting inches of show. It's only monday and I have this feeling this week is going to drag on.

It shouldn't feel that way, I have my eggs going into lockdown tomorrow. I'm thinking of locking them down tonight, since last year I woke up on lockdown day and there was a guinea chick stuck in the turner, his poor feet were dangling down through the hole in the center.. and there was a second chick running around under the turner. Little stuck chick was ok after I unstuck him.

Weekend was productive, planted my trees and bushes I got from Stark Bros... my DH will be planting 40 trees over the next few days, that he ordered from our local conservation office.

Caught a skunk, rabbit, racoon, deer and my DH on our spycamera that is recording all that visit our bee hives. The deer just wandered by, stared into the camera for a while and then left with his other 2 friends. I think the racoon got stung, you see him walk up to the bee hives, spend a little time there, then run away, to turn and stare at the hive. Now to setup a couple of traps....

I'm tracking our flower bloom, so I can understand what is blooming and when (for my bees)... this weekend added more daffodils, bluebells, start of those large hyacinths and my nanking cherries to the list (which was only crocus and a few daffodils). The neighbors yellow forsythia bushes.

Back to work.. enjoy your day all!!

those guineas always seem to have a few hatch early and then end up hanging from the turner in my sportsman , too.. I think a 4 or 5 day lockdown is a good idea .. It won't hurt the other eggs.

I cannot set guinea eggs from May 2 to the 4th.. I don't want them hatching while I am at the bash..

no chicken eggs from the 9 to the 11 th

Whats up my fellow Wisconsinites! I thought I would just say hello. I finally joined BYC after about 2 or so years of just reading all of the great info on this site. I have also been able to finally start building my coop. I'm hoping I will have it finished in about 2 weeks and will definitely post some pics of it when I get it finished. Any who, I'll be chatting with you later!

Welcome!! Where are you located?

Jim, I'm NOT cracking the shell or help the chicks out. I'm not THAT crazy to ruin my hard earned eggs that I had to wait SOOO long for to finally come to this stage!!!

Welcome WIcountry from me also! Also from me, how "country" do you live? Lol.

Wow. Everyone is planting so many trees. You all seem to have lots of acres, money and time to do all this! We have enough trees and brush/raspberry overgrowth that we have to decimate it every year before it takes US over. Lol.

Ducks standing outside in the rain quaking loudly as they see the chickens running loose and they all get to look down at the ever growing "pond" in the yard and won't let them go there! Too funny.

Yes, we're supposed to get snow/sleet AGAIN tomorrow. Just hope it is more sleet turning right away in rain than that yucky white stuff again. Especially since we're supposed to go up into the higher 50's again come this weekend. Roller coaster anyone?!
