Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Nice Evening to all...yep I think it's easier to name who isn't coming....LOL!

Picked up that bator from my friend today...It turns out to be a Sears wood cabinet model 228-1025...it needs some TLC, but maybe it will hatch again someday...hope you can have some ideas and help with it Jim....My friend Frank also gave me one of the kerosene heaters used for brooding.

The old stuff is so unique.

The Bash is closing in fast....it will be a good time for all that show!

bigz

Good to hear you and the OM will be here fenchie....it will be goodie to see you both!

Brent, I tried to find something about your incubator online..
so far nothing,,
I have one of those wooden kerosene incubators upstairs in my garage..
I should dig it out ,, I don't remember what make it is..

I transferred 6 guineas and 11 BO chicks into the chick TV..

I finally bought a fishing license and some blood red hooks.. set up one pole for bluegills ..

I just sat down here five minutes ago.. no chicks in the hatcher.. I just saw movement and there are 2 chicks looking out the door.. now that is how fast I like them to hatch .. that makes 13 out of 18 so far..pretty good %tage.

I just checked on the turkey eggs. These eggs are supposed to hatch on Monday and I was supposed to take out the turner tonight but I have one egg that looks close to hatching..... the other has not filled the egg yet, it almost looks like it is a week behind the other (not sure how that is possible since they were all set at the same time). So fingers crossed that we either get two or none at all. One lone chick is a PITA! There were NO temp fluctuations other than the difficulty getting the incubator up to temp that first day (which did not affect the eggs developing at all).

Had a nice visit with LMiller tonight, she has a LOT of chicks so if anyone is looking for Langshans or Langshan mixes contact her! She also has a few of Deli's Orpington babies running around....

Baking the cake tomorrow and doing the grocery shopping for the camping trip. Bug spray is high on the list.....

turkeys are not as dependable as chickens.. don't expect them to hatch all at once.. and just because the shell is full, there usually is a long time before that baby will be popping out.. I have had them pupped for a couple of days before they decided to give it the big push..

We did our grocery shopping for the trip tonight. I need to make my food item(s) for Saturday and wrap my white elephant items. We are taking the kids out of school Friday and heading out early. DH doesn't know if he will have all of Friday off or just the afternoon, but either way we will be there by dinner. This year we bought cots for DH & I and pool rafts for the kids. No more blowing up the air mattress in the middle of the night for us and the kids will be happy to be off the ground.

Jim-I am bringing a sack of flour and sugar for pancakes. You are making them, right?

Brent-could you shoot me the address please? Or post on the bash link?

Thanks Jim, the one that has filled the egg I took out of the turner so it could orient itself for hatching; the other I left in the turner. I figure I will be able to take it out in a few days (?) so it can hatch? The egg is about 3/4 full of chick so I am unsure of what to do. Yes the chick is alive, but I do not think in three days it will fill the shell....... ugh.

Looks like it's just you and me Cind !!! LOL When are you guys getting there ? Fri or Sat ? Who else is all coming ?

Boy am I going to have a lot of catching up to do. Since I got my smart phone I hardly use my laptop which is on it's last leg (no comment Jim) and it's just to hard or should I really admit that I'm to lazy to read all the posts on the phone. So anyway Terri O you are not alone... putters sucks. My dvd drive won't recognize a dvd it in it. Grrhhhh

Anyway, I have Geese sitting on tons of eggs as well as Muscovy's and magpie ducks sitting on eggs as well. I was hoping they would hatch before the bash so I could find good homes.... Watch they'll hatch when my neighbors are sitting.
I have not found one guinea nest yet..... I don't have any rhubarb plants.... well I do... I have two in little pots that I bought last year. Can't believe they made it through winter.

So tonight when I was at the laundry mat....Melisa you are not alone there either.... my washer has been broke for over a year now .... Anyway, while I was slaving doing laundry OMET went to Antigo and picked up a popup camper for us. Yeah I know we have a tent we used once but well to be honest I'm to lazy to help OMET put it up and don't want to spend that much time doing it !! How's that for honesty !!! LOL
So I'll need a spot with electric. Haven't even thought about what to pack. I'm not a camper, can you tell ? LOL
Anyway I best take my sleeping pill so I can get up as a reasonable hour tomorrow. Gonna be a busy day. Plus Cindlady we need to be up early Sunday for Jims pancakes !! I'll have to pop a pill into your drink ??? LOL
Can't wait to see you all !!

Night !

Hi All!

FT.... You must have been here when I was busy. We'll be there Fri. night.

I have another girl thinking about going broody

I don't want to hatch too many eggs this year. Does anyone have Welsummer or Australorp eggs for hatching? Maybe some Marans?

Night All!

good morning, looks like I bailed out to soon last night..

I have at least 9 more chicks from this hatch to transfer to the chick TV.. waiting for a couple of them to dry off , first .. these eggs were marked BO.. I don't remember doing that, or why.. they sure don't look like buff orps..

Mel, quit fretting about the eggs .. if they are alive, they are OK.. it doesn't take forever to fill the egg. they are growing exponentially right now ..
my best advice is HANDS OFF >>>>

You can take them out of the turner earlier than 3 days.. If they were all set at the same time and one is ready, treat them all the same..

this cuppa I am nursing is terrible.. when I head to the edge of the lake to try for some bluegills, I will pick up a good cuppa from the gas station..

Sandi, I am glad you bought a camper.. now you won't have to listen to me snore..

bring one of your piggies along.. if we put it over the fire pit on Friday night it should be done by noon on Sat .. Yummmmmm...
