Sandi, to find images on Google you can do your initial search first then when all the web pages come up you click on the button that says images under the search bar where your initial information is. You will then get images.

Make sense?

Morning all!

When I set eggs this spring I added some Lavender Orpingtons (parent birds from CC) and hatched 4 lavs and a buff split (black). I'm overrun with Brahmas (3 brooders full) and don't have room to work on this color/breed any more so if anyone's interested in them just let me know.

3 lavs and the split in front and 4th lav top left.

Morning all!!
Things have been crazy busy around here! Hubby is working 16 hour days. Amd weekends too :(
I told him I feel like a single mom again ;) tball is back on. And 4-h is in high gear. Tons of chickies growing out. And mostly loving it! The bottle fed baby is finally eating all on his own! The chickens are well. I am selling some pairs of the blue Andalusion chicks. If anyone is interested. They hatched in January
And are currently free range.

Huntress, nice hatch!
Frenchie, I missed reading ya!
Had a very nice visit with Terri last night :)

Delisha, I hope everything is ok. I cought your post awhile back. And worry. Best wishes your way. :*

Well, the poor little broody that got kicked around by the turkey and then roosters didn't make it. :hit She was a sweet little girl too. Soooooo..... I wound up giving Pepper all the eggs I had split between her and Jasmine. There was only a 2 day difference from when they were set, and I don't know how long the 2nd batch was cool, so they may not hatch anyway. She's a full size Cochin so she can cover a good size pile. Jasmine got the Marans eggs because she's a well proven broody and mom.

Guess that's it.... Night All!

Aww, I'm sorry for your loss.

Thanks Erinnoie......how do you pronounce your username ? Never heard of Google Images ????? Dahh....lol

My name is Erin Noie, so it's just my name, Noie pronounced No-ee

Hey Angibuds. I read your posts.... at least when I am on here. Wish there was a like button like on Facebook so people would know that there posts were read. I know mine are skipped by a few cause I've been accused of typing long posts !!!!

Hah, yes, a like button sure would be awesome!!

Morning all. And hopefully not many skeeters where you are!

Frenchie, you're not the only one who posts long! Seems I always have lot of uninteresting things to share... ;)

Sorry to hear bout your chicken CL! Sometimes nature can be so cruel.

Duckies all doing good, pheasant babies not so much. After his brother loosing the 4 older chickens (we think due to the one cold night) and the younger two surviving we thought we're fine. Had 7 pheasant babies hatch. One died a bit later but the other ones seemed fine.

BUT since 3 days ago I'm really worried. Can pheasants get cocci? It seems like they're fine one day, the next one is really lethargic, not interested in food or water and later in the day it passes. We're down to 4 pheasant babies now (bout a week old now) and yet another one is doing just that.

Maybe the chickens had it and his brother brought it over? Never had this happen before. And any clues what I can do to help it NOT die? Sugar water and extra warmth added but don't seem to help :(

Ideas anyone?!

I did a lot of reading when I planned to get quail and it seems that chickens and gamebirds are not a good mix. It could be cocci or coryza which is also carried by chickens.

We do not keep the chickens with the chickens. In fact they're a good distance away from each other. That's why I. Thought that maybe his brother brought it over. He has the chickens.

The baby seems to be better for now. No more lethargic just tired an wants to be in the warm cuddling with fuzzy. Gosh, not sure if my nerves will make it thru all this okay...'

Sam, I do not know much about Pheasants.. but is it possible they are like turkeys ? chickens carry the blackhead virus, and when turkeys get it, it sounds just like what your pheasants are going through..

just having them far apart is not enough..

I will tell it like we do with the turkeys..

you cannot put them where chickens have ever been.. especially on the ground..

I built two 4 ft x 10 ft raised pens where my turkeys go for the first 13 weeks after they hatch..

I have used these pens for ducks and chickens, but before the turkeys go in, I disinfect the cage.

I have had good luck putting the turkeys, guineas and newly hatched chickens together..

the contaminated chickens seem to be the ones that strut around on the ground..

I got the tiller started, all new gas and we are good to go..
