got our "bull" this weekend, in with our weanling heifer, they are just too cute that I know they're not chickens but gotta post a pic...
Otto, is the bull on the left, and Suzy Q is the little heifer on the right.

Awe km they are adorable.
Cindy that sucks. I've heard some breeds breeds are more susceptible to marks than others. Silkies one. Your birds could have been carriers for years. Best thing to do 81 the future then is to incubate the eggs and vacinate day old chicks for Mareks. Any make sure to keep them isolated for at least a week or more so the vacination takes hold before the virus. Whoever gets in first wins.i think there is a bacteria that can cause the same symptoms as Mareks. Hope it's not.:(

homemaede styro incubator..hatched 100% fertile eggs 10

male pit saying hi to his new peeps

peeps out of the incubator several weeks later

male pit sunbathing on the back porch with the free rangers...

I vaccinate for Mareks and now ILT.

Email address for testing a bird.

You can opt to bring in a live bird and have Dr Melissa Behr draw blood samples out on the docks. I sent in a dead bird and had a full scan of testing done. Dr Behr is great to talk with and she is a wealthy of knowledge. She is teaching in Saint Louis this week and not available so it might have to be someone else. They are reasonably priced for blood draws and it is $94.00 for a full work up. I think they can do up to two birds for that price. Dr Vanderloo is the Director in Madison.

I sent in the bird in an insulated disposable cooler. I placed the bird in a bag, a disposable ice pack on the bottom of the cooler, paper bag over the ice pack, bird on top, paper bag, ice pack and paper bag. I placed the whole thing in a shipping box. The lab sent me a label to ship. It was $7.00.

I was tested for MG-MS- IBV-ILT-and Molecular testing for all worms. I had worms and ILT in that one bird. The rest was all negative.

Is there anyone that is going to the Fall Creek swap on the 20th that has a Salmon Faverolle rooster between 3-7weeks old? Ours passed away today from sour crop. This was our 1st one and I was really enjoying this breed, he was such a sweet boy

So sorry to hear about your boy :(
pm Angiebubs. She has show quality cockerals to rehome. Good luck!

Hi All!

Thanks Angie and Delish. Do I have to tell them the test I want or will they do a basic screen for things? I have to tell them, what should I ask for? I haven't culled yet because I wanted to know where to ship them first. DH gets in meds. in exactly what I need to ship them in so I guess I'll do it very soon. Our printer isn't working, will UPS print the label for me?

Birdman..... Splayed legs (doing the splits) curled toes, spread wing, very weak, very little control of body. Young birds.

Wish I had good news too. Well, I'm almost done with the quill order. Maybe I'll get a pic. of this batch.

Night All!
