Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

cindlady...the curl in the toes happen for several reasons...im just getting into breeding the red golden pheasant and other mutations from it...and i was told that malposition birds before they hatch can form this and you can fix this with in a day or so after the hatch...iv seen people make splints for there birds using bandaids...just look it up online how to make a splint for a young bird...and you will see picks...and another factor would be that inbreeding the birds can also have an effect on this trait....i recently bought eight female red goldens hens from a guyin chicago..he obtained the stock from a swap there and then bread them....i ended up buying them all from him bc i felt bad for the birds and there living conditions...and im sure the parents were related...and one out of the eight had curled toes when i got them..nothing you can really have control of other then just buy from two different stocks and then seperate...zero of the birds i have now are related...all from the midwest...the curled toe bird will be removed and placed into the mutt pen when it is better and i just hope that i gave the poor thing a better life...they are more disease prone when they are inbread and make your future stock weaker as well....just keep this in mind.

Just checking in. Neighbor is here fixing the well wire that basically wore through because even rime the pump kicks on the wires rub on the metal well walls. Happened about three to four yrs ago. Idiots that we hired at the time only had one baffle type thing on. Job security for them. Come back every few yrs to rewire.we bought 22 of them and all new wire. No water for three days now. Food thing I have huge water tanks for horses and pools that were filled for the ducks and chickens
Jim any news on Dora yet? Are you at some point going to uncover the log pile?

good morning,
had breakfast with two of my older sisters today..
came home to get ready to go to the eye clinic,,

sent Ollie to the tractor Dr yesterday.. I still have to call him to let him know it was me who sent Ollie there,

Kalib (GS) just passed his driver's test,, he now has a license,, he is so happy and proud, I am so happy,, no more chauffeuring for me,,

no Dora yet,,
Sandi, I have no intentions of restacking that lumber pile..
If she is under there with pups, she will come out.. If she were dead under there, it would stink by now..

Well, DH is thinking about putting up a deer blind for bow hunting. The neighbor just cut the hayfield, baled it and is storing the hay in our barn this winter. I am hoping the clover comes back strong this fall.
I hope he gets lucky and gets one, but I am not banking on it..

Made soap today, it was the first time since last May I had the house to myself all day! And why is that? My oldest finally landed a job! She is now working at the local butcher shop. So happy for her! Now, high time her loser mom finds something as well....... :)

Hi All...

Birdman.... The birds were about 15 weeks and 4 weeks old. The older one was out running around with her hatch mates and just fine until a few days ago. She disappeared and I thought a hawk got her, then I found where she was hiding. She died sometime today. The younger one it's taking it's time with but I see it didn't move around since yesterday.

Yea, I guess I shouldn't feel too guilty, it could have have come from anywhere! New bird, wild birds, the guineas that visited last year, it could even have sat here from when a previous owner had chickens. It just $UCKS!!! I just hope I didn't infect someone elses birds.

Man was Thunder off tonight! He has never been so naughty. Must be starting to test to see what he can get away with. I just made him keep riding! We are both very sweaty!
Two lb chicks drown in the pond today. I do believe I will be selling those plastic ones. Hubby put rocks in ther eso they could get out. But they don't get it. I put the drinking water very close to the ponds in hopesnof deterring chickens drinking there. But they don't get that either :/
well, I better get off to the house! 1:30 rolls around pretty quick. And I have done 0 house chores tonight!
