Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I wish you were closer. I love the pencilled palms. I would take all 3. You're not going to the Portage show, by chance, are you?

I may be visiting Milwaukee mid October, but that is not written in stone. Plus, I wouldn't be able to keep them at the hotel I am staying at there, so they'd need to be delivered on the way!

Cind, what about the black walnut ink ??
If you need the nuts or/and husks, let me know soon,, otherwise the squirrels will get all of them.

.......jiminwisc..........

Is someone making black walnut fountain dip pen ink?! It is so rare to see dip pens or fountain pens in the wild :D

good morning,
staceykins, cindlady makes quill pens and ink for her son who sells them at renascence fairs etc,,
I guess she didn't read my posts about collecting nuts from my trees for her..
IDK, try to help somebody , and they just ignore you...
makes one wonder if anybody reads my posts at all ??

I locked up about 14 guineas this morning,, there is one flock poking around in the raspberry patch,
I have to figure out how to entice them into a coop..
I have a buyer for all that I can deliver.. just have to round them all up..

ALL of the chickens, large and small were on the roosts in the chicken coop last night.. also a few of the smallest guineas ..
It made counting them easy,, there are 7 of the small chickens.. 7 laying hens , 2 roosters and Tommy; and a pair of geese on the floor..

I am having a warmed over cuppa,, not going so well,, I think I will head on over to Marathon for a good cuppa..

Oh Jim....you know we read your posts goof-ball!

Cind- I too (like Jim) have a TON of black walnuts and you are free to have all of the nuts that you can gather, carry, haul, etc!

My girls are still not back to laying yet. This is my first experience with them not laying while molting and I have to tell yah, my egg supply is almost out and they better start pushing out those eggs again before I have to get store bought eggs!

Hi All! I was just over in your area...Chickenship took me for a long weekend up to Door County-beautiful area!

I can't wait to see some of you next weekend!

If anyone is looking for LF Salmon Faverolles cockerels, I could possibly bring them to the Portage show??? Let me know as I would really like to re home some of these sweethearts asap!!

Jim, thanks for the offer but there is plenty around here, just have to go to a couple of places, much closer than the drive up there! I don't need as many now either because my customer decided he wants 500 black and 500 red. No walnut

but I'll add a little to the other batches to enhance the color and make them more fade and water resistant.

The Wheeler swap is this Saturday at the Otter Creek Inn on Hwy 64! I'm sure you could find them homes there.

Just checking in to say HI! Remember me? I was here some 700+ posts ago! :)

The molt is in full swing here - on a good day I get 3 or 4 eggs and some days I get zero. My Spotted Sussex has one lonely tail feather left. She looks pretty silly.

I added three to the flock this year. One Rhode Island Red and two Cochin Banties. It's like there are two flocks now, though the Red is integrating pretty well with the other big girls. The Banties wait until the big ones have been roosting awhile before they jump up there with them. They try to duck under the wings of the others but those girls aren't having any of that.

Traffic at the store is slow now that Labor Day has passed us by. I've been busy, though, as I discovered the joy of chalk paint and I have been painting my little heart out. I do need to pick up the exterior paint soon and finish off the milk house/chicken coop before it gets too cold.

I hope you all are well! Stay warm!

Eileen

Just walked in the door after bowhunting....my oh my the skeets were terrible!

Nice to hear from you Eileen. My flock is molting too...still manage to get 3 or 4 eggs a day, and I'm thankful for that.

My load of firewood is suppose to be delivered before the weekend....12 full cords to cut and split should keep me busy enough, I'm thinkin.

Yep, I think the Lions will win our division this year. One would think the Pack coulda drafted someone to block for Rodgers.....franchise quarterback with no front line...
