Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Nice January day outside today, eh!

Yep Robin it is really hard to find. They have it at the grocery in C-ville, but it's the only place I've found it. I really like all the flavors and finish them to the last drop. Good Stuff for sure. I'll hook you up with a 12er if you are able to make the bash this year.

Nice to rid the ridge of ice in front of the overhead today...hard to believe I was able to get er done this time of year...usually a Feb or March accomplishment. Just don't want someone to slip and fall. We aren't getting younger last time I checked.

CC,

Thanks for introducing yourself. And, YES, I would love to work something out. Things with shipped eggs are not going well for me at all.

I will send you a PM to discuss more.

Thanks!

Welcome to the newbies!!
Brought the kiddos out for dinner and a movie

was fun. Busy weekend for sure here.
We got a round bail last night. I bet it was quite a show the two of us rolling it out of the truck and across the barn! I did the math. And it has been costing $35 a month to feed both horses. Not bad! I thought it woj ld be more. However I do realise it has been a gentle one so far. While it was actually cold they were eating more.
The chickies are good. They have slowed a bit the past week or so. I habe a few already trying to go broody. And am convincing them via wire pen thag they want to wait a bit. CCan't believe how well that trick works.
Hope you all have a good weekend!
Cuties or anyone else - will you expand on that wire pen thing to get a chicken to go broody. Thanks much!

It is quite simple. I put a broody in a wire rabbit cage for approximately 2 days. I provide food and water. But no nesting box or straw. This almost always breaks the brood! At first I thought I was being mean. But once I realized some of them will hold broody for up to 6 months I saw what a toll it was taking on their body.

Hi neighbor Clucks&Giggle. I am in Sauk county, but very near the Columbia county line.

I, too, am still in the research phase; although I have been collecting lumber & hardware cloth for building a coop.

I listed my 2 turkey hens on Craigslist and someone wants to trade me for a cockatiel with cage. lol. Wost part is, I'm considering it. I could sell the bird at work if it was friendly. And obviously it needs a new home.
LOL--that is probably Jim trying to get back into turkeys and selling Annie's cockatiels!

Good for you! In my humble opinion, you can rarely know too much about any subject.

Bigz, I never heard of that beer before. I checked their website & it sounds like they have quite a few that both DH & I would like.
As I remember that is GOOD beer! DH gets it on occasion. look above...it says "QUOTIE" above your post...BYC is going bonkers!

I have never had to do this but I hear that it does work. I have used the "dunk them in water to cool them down" method when needed! THis works also and is fast!

I need to head out...I am glad that I am caught up for now...we will soon be planning that fantastic BASH! wont we? I can hardly wait!

Keep safe, keep warm and keep chickens! (Jim, you are excused for now...) TErriO

Cookie is in heat and guess what...she climbed the 5 foot fence and took off. I see other foot prints joining hers out in the field and than they go into an area I can't get into. I am worried sick. Looks like I am fixing her sooner. I might have to sell all of my birds and find a new place to live. I am having surgery next Thursday to remove some nasty nodes...Life sucks about now.If you hear anything for anyone please let me know.

Vicki- Joe wouldn't even notice if you got Cookie fixed. When does he go on his next work trip???? I am glad that you found her. Also, I am sorry to hear that you must have surgery. PM me on when you'll be having surgery and what you end up deciding on the critters.
Wow, you still have quite a bit of snow Jim. We barely have the ground covered. Very cute pictures!

Yeah, snow is mostly gone here, but more to come tomorrow.

Took Theo to a local dog park today with DS 11. He was the best behaved doggie there. Cuties, I have to tell you that the collar is a miracle. He is so pleasant to walk on a leash and easy to correct when needed (which is not frequent anymore). We have been walking him on the weekends hoping to build up muscle around his hurt knee to strengthen it.

Hens are good. I've got one broody. I actually love having a broody over the winter as she keeps the eggs from freezing. We've had so many eggs recently (or not eating as much) and I've been able to sell a few.

Life here is good. Kiddos are all doing well too. We went to my work today to play racketball and then to a mexican restaurant for dinner.

Cs, be sure to get Theo swimming as soon as the wound is all healed! Glad things are going well :)

Nice to read from you again Terri.
well, a few more are hatching away. Why are we getting sooooo many splash Sumatra?! I was excited for more blue this year. Blake got reserve grand champion with their mommy at fair ♡
We have one little Silver Laced. I think they will NEVER lay/hatch well for us.
Went out to dinner for our neices bday. It was buffet. I am ........full.

Welcome newbies!

The chickaroos are finally laying again consistently! That was a very long molting break for them. The roo is getting feisty again but it's too cold to move him into bachelor quarters out in the tractor. Had to kick him into the middle of next week when he attacked me today. I think I hurt his dignity more than anything else. He's steering clear of me now but with a lot of attitude.

C'mon spring!

G'night all!
