Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Snowflakey morning everybody!

I don't know but I think round about a are FUUUN! Well, but I also grew up with them, so even a 3- or 4lane round about doesn't scare me. It's more the people that can't decide if they should let other drivers in or take their right-of-way while crawling with barely 5mph (the stress on the poor car as it could be tipping when u go faster!

) is driving me nuts every time though... And the ones here are just simple one lane ones!!!

Our warm water line to the kitchen sink froze 2 days ago with the very low temps and the icy cold wind. But the cold water is still running, as we leave a continuous stream run for now. But it's only February and who knows what Mother Nature has still planned for this absolutely lovely

winter!

Birdies are all doing fine, the brats dog is back to his usual naughty self, besides having added eating bark and wood pieces from the fire wood to his past times. Tax return all done and even got it back already (only took one week!!!) so SO is in the process of not being able to decide which pellet stove on CL he wants. And of course looking for another beater he can add to our ever growing car park. Urgh! Him and his son actually felled some trees to make room to park all the ones that don't drive anymore out of the way... You could think we open a junk yard by now...

Otherwise nothing else new. Trying to sneaky snow here, very fine snowflakes that you can barely see but fall constantly for at least 2 hours now. And not looking forward to all this cold this week. Just hope this will end soon, as even the birds are getting tired and too cold with all the white stuff. And they could really use another pool day... They're sooo dirty!

Okay, back to chores and then heading to town for some relaxation. Later everyone!
read back a few posts,, you are exactly the person I described,, picture yourself going through a turnabout for the very first time,, have a heart,, instead of blowing your horn , maybe a little patience might help.. where are you needing to go in such a hurry ? maybe you should have left a little bit earlier,, then you wouldn't have to rush ..

I have been driving since 1956 without an accident.. I have driven a variety of vehicles in size and road worthiness.. so I think I am somewhat experienced,,
Now , at my age they throw a roundabout at us.. No tutorial, you are just driving along and WHAM !!
just there is one in front of you.. unexpected .. what the hell is that ?? where do I go ? what do I do ? would you rather have me tear through that at 25 MPH ? not on your life..or mine.

First, I rarely use my horn when it comes to roundabouts. I know there are terrified and scared people out there who rarely know if they should get into that weird new thing or rather stop and turn around to avoid it altogether. BUT, even I had to learn it, while trying to figure out how to correctly drive a stick in rush hour traffic getting confronted by a 3lane roundabout and I made it!

No, I'm not saying u should go thru it with 25mph (although I do when there is no one around, just doing a piggy WHEEE!) but a bit more than 5mph like and old wheelchair on crutches are expected!

Yet u can let me know when Ur driving JIM, and I shall do my utmost to avoid u trying to figure out yet another curse of the new age or simply strap on an old tire to the hood of my car for I can help u old fart along! (No offense!)

I can understand where you're coming from. I don't really think its fair to most drivers to just start throwing these roundabouts everywhere. The young drivers will have an advantage as they will (most likely) use them and learn the proper ways in drivers ed. I have yet to see a person use them safely and logically. Half the time I'm in one of those eye soars someone tries flying in without even looking.

so three hours with the 2500 watt heater in the well pit and no dice...or water...lol...

so i was thinking about getting a cabinet incubator from gqf but i hear some bad replies about the motors going bad...any thoughts on a good incubator

Morning All...thanks for the heads up about the roundabouts near hwy 41 and in regards to hwy 29 wyo...now I know for sure that someone else that has been there will be driving. I'm scared of the 2 lane ones enough, that multiple lane ones would give me a heart attack! I'm glad I didn't give it a try, thinking how bad can it be? Now I know it's worse that I would of predicted. It use to be so easy to get into Green Bay on Shawano Avenue....not anymore...what a nightmare they created.

Hope you guys and gals with the frozen water lines are able to get them thawed out. That has to be a pain for sure. Yep, it's amazing what some contractors walk away from.

At least Feb is over half way to March....things will be improving soon.

Water is nice when you have company.

When we were living in Wyoming, one year two of my sisters and my mom came out to visit in April. We had a big snowstorm moving in. We picked them up in Denver, stopped at the grocery store in Cheyenne on the way home, and by the time we got home it was starting to snow. It snowed for the three days that they were visiting, we lost power for over 12 hours (overnight included). We had two wood-stoves in the house, so we weren't going to freeze, and we cooked beef stew and biscuits on the woodstove. Lots of cribbage and Kings Corners was played.

Our frozen water solution is simple, leave the door open to the stupid water closet area.

Brings back memories of my brother that lived in Cheyenne and was the radio guy on the country station there for prolly 5 years or more...he said you noticed it wasn't windy when your hat didn't get blown off...LOL.

Here is a Cheyenne joke - The wind stopped blowing and all the cows fell over...

Oh, and the best part of that snowstorm story, they closed the interstate about 2 hours after we got home and didn't open them back up until Monday evening. They had to be at the airport by 12:00 on Tuesday. The 12-18 inches of snow was gone 3 days later.
