my baby chickens. when do you think I should move them to the chicken coop. There a week old and 1 day

Mine are usually in the coop after the first week ( broilers or layers ). However at this time of the year it may be easier to heat....its march and we will reminded of it...I'm sure.

you can put them into the chicken coop at one day old as long as you provide ample heat ..
If you provide heat, set it up so that they can escape from the heat if it gets too warm for them,
You don't want them to freeze, and you also don't want to cook them ..

they will need heat until they develop true feathers..

Welcome Newbies !
Could have never made it to the Fondy swap. Didn't roll out of bed until 10:30 am. Swap was already starting to wrap up at this point.
Set 42 eggs for the Easter Hatch along.
15 Project Lavender Australorps
12 Lavender Ameracauna /Cinnamon Queens
6 Lavender Orp/California White Leghorn
3 Easter Eggers mutts
6 Lavender Orpington/Easter Egger or Lavender Orpington/Australorp

So if all goes well well have 42 fluffy buts here for Easter!

Nothing wrong with some of your birds ending up in the "freezer" Misswiggles.
I know how well treated my birds are from day 1 to the last day.
Then again I did broilers before I did layers.

I have a broody bcm. I have been putting bcm/lb eggs under her ( she was intent on hatching 2 golf balls ).
Any roos will be raised for the freezer.

That sounds great Irish!

Hey amazing, that water dish is a bit deep. I have had chicks drown in the past. I realise they are a week. And it is not likely. ... but maybe just incase.......

Are you guys setting today or tomorrow for Easter? Ive been hatching just about every week lol. However I figure I might as well have some planned for Easter with you all!!

Did any of you know there was a tack swap at the fairgrounds today? I didn't until after I missed it :,(

Thanks cuties! Our top LB cockerel that we gave to a 4H boy is being spoiled rotten. The little boy carries him around ( must be quite the site ).

With our young roo & only 5 hens... we really need A) couple more hens B.) the roo to mature or C) freezer camp.
