Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

D@mmit, lost another post..

yup, pullets fit the freezer bags better.. also, I think they don't run around as much as the roosters do, so their meat is not as stringy..

I have just one chick out of the shell so far.. not too many pips yet, either..

I wonder if BigZ's DD shoots directly into the wind , will the BB's make it to the Tom ??

I went in today and had my pacemaker tested.. I am good for about 5 years.. It kicks in minimally, thus saving the battery ..
I told the technician that I don't want this thing reviving me after I am dead and buried.. He assured me that they will shut it off ..

I plan on staying in the house for the rest of the day,,

how do they know if the incinerating kills the bird flue ? maybe the spores go up with the smoke and spread that way ..

I just got off the phone with a hatchery in Beaver Dam for my meaties. I can do pick up (because they do a antiseptic boot bath she told me) or having them shipped wasn't a problem either. Did the quarantine end?
I'm just going to go about my business and ignore the news like I have been the last ten years.

Just me opinion ion but if the wild birds are spreading it I think it's just a matter of time before it's all over. Saw on the news last night that there is a guy at UW Madison that is working on a vaccine or something but to many are against it so testing has stopped. Geez
Jim good point ...make sure they shut it off. Unless you're not claustrophobic! LOL

Cind did you ever get your missing chicks replaced?

Was just thinking. Wonder if the source could be from the original source of their birds...meaning the hatchery. If they are shipping all over......????

Yah, they are in Dodge County. I am in Jefferson. I was concerned I would run into issues.

Jimmy... I would never think to advise you... Since you're the knowledge fairy in all things poultry... But I lost my Muscovy because I let her fly. So she just plain old flew and took my Aussie Dot with her. So if you want to keep those cute little calls, clip them a wee bit.

Aren't you the one who said they thought about amputating the Angel wing part of the wing? Never did it, but thought about it. I can actually see that being an ok thing. It just sticks out so far, you can totally see taking it off. I never could actually DO it, but can see where you're coming from.

Spoke with one of the scientific state vets this morning about this and said since AI is so easily killed with lower heat(53-65deg unlike many others that need to be 140deg to be killed) being airborne from incineration is not a risk. Also the risk of airborne is limited to the premise in which it originated(around 100feet). Per his words.
