they just don't seem to be that far North.. even here in the middle of the state, I have never seen one and I am 72 years old.. I have seen them way South many times..

I have seen dead ones on the highway,, what usually happens, is they are hitching a ride on a truck coming from the South, and they fall off..

We have some around Waupaca

who was looking to get rid of gophers? Never tried this.....but, fill a gallon jug with water....turn upside down in gopher hole, when his hole fills with water, he will look for a way out and run into the jug, quickly pull the jug up and cap it.

They are WAAAAAY too big to get into a jug!!! Someone must have been pulling your leg! I'm going to try soaking something in ammonia - then down the hatch!

I planted my tomatoes and peppers today,,
I am gambling that the frost will not dip farther south than Lincoln county, we are about 6 miles south of the county line..

I dragged the garden one more time before going at it with the tiller,, by this time tomorrow I hope to have about 20 rows of corn planted..

I traded a pair of black guineas for a gallon of maple syrup..

I think pancakes are on the breakfast menu for tomorrow..

wouldn't gophers and/or skunks move in the opposite direction from the water and pop out of a different exit ?
that is where you should be waiting with a 9 iron and swing when he pops his head out ..

that rhubarb recipe looks real tasty,, if you follow the directions closely, you might be a bit too tipsy to eat any of it right away ..

last week I reclaimed out rhubarb patch,, the raspberries had engulfed it .. now I can mow all the way around it again,,

we found out how the goats were getting out of the big pen,, they just stick their noses under the cyclone wire and slide under, slick as you please..

We have been making rhubarb kuchen (pie crusf w/custard, fruit, and crumble topping) with rhubarb. Don't have much of our own but my dad has been giving us a lot of his.

Jim we had frost in Washington County last night! In 29 years of living I don't think we have had frosf after Memorial Day.

As I type DH is working on the coop; he put up fluorescent lights above the box stall and is working on roosts. I have been completely worthless tonight- super tired, so have been sleeping most of the evening.

We will be getting a new washer soon- Sears can't come up with a part to fix our washer to save their lives so our home warranty company is replacing with brand new... of course they want to offer me another Maytag. Which I'm sure I will take but I always have the worst luck with parts being backordered- even for the new machines we bought at our old house the drum was backordered! I digress...

FT sorry to hear about your roo. Could it have been a coon?

I'm a teacher. 11 more kid contact days...

Wow! I wouldn't have guessed that! I've had multiple traps set for a week now and so far it has eluded them I really don't want to set out poison but that may be where we are headed quickly. I have a momma on a nest and the rats need to be GONE!

Browncow mice LOOOOVE Snickers as bait- maybe try it for the rats too.

After the bash to everyone....what a great time we had! It was a special time for me to see my friends after a year gone bye... I was happy to see the faces from some for a whole year...I wish others coulda made it....it will continue for years to come , and hope old friends can find time. Excuses for not being able to attend can me many, and that will continue to happen every year...I have peace with that. Life gets in the way every day.. I know how hard getting away for a day can be. Hope you can find a free day next year.

I can't begin to thank all the special people, that made this a bash a special one for me.

Those hugs that we give each other coming and going are special to me for sure!
