Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Firstchic...take advantage of Glendale Farms just down the road from you for strawberries and peas....they will take you out to the field to pick, and it's a ton of fun...as far as my tomatoes and other stuff...I can't tell yet what the harvest will be...like most farmers...I ain't happy till the harvest is at hand. I will share with you if I have extras.

Does anyone have any hens for sale?

I wish I could help you out - there are others here who can probably get you some young chicks. I got some from Cuties recently but they were so young we couldn't tell which were male and which were female for a few weeks.

I got some RIR from a guy in Appleton that delivered them to me!!!! His post in on Craiglist-Appleton #-5004243377, I want to say his name is Richard, but, I could be wrong. He is coming by next week to check on the chicks, which are doing fine.

So my son got CVC pipe=about 2" in diameter I think for the roost. I was concerned that it would be too slippery for the Hens, is that a problem?
Nevermind everybody, the PVC pipe was 1" and I told DS about chicken feet, so he is doing it my way now....with boards that they can sit on instead of hang on.

and to the Cheesehead thread. How many roos do you have? It might be from fighting. Or if he is submissive, one of the hens could have done it, or he might be having a light molt. What breeds of hens are you looking for?

FirstChic, I would suggest 2x4s for roosts with the "4" side being the side they stand on. It will help keep their toes from getting frostbite in the winter.

45, chickens are a learning experience, that is for sure. You will have to let us all know when you get your dream home/yard. We will all help you fill your barn(s).

Wet and rainy day today... Went Strawberry picking yesterday too, BL4. Will be the last picking of berries down here, they are very ripe and small but sweet just picked 4 quarts enough to freeze for a couple of shortcakes in the winter. In my 3 year attempt to grow berries in my garden I have yet to have more than a handful of berries, those 13 stripe ground squirrels and chipmunks know what they like.... Z do they sell shelled peas or is it strictly pick your own shell your own? Might make a nice drive next weekend. My peas were doing well but the first half of the row has gotten some sort of blight and the veins are prematurely yellowing... Funny it is only in the front of the garden though. Got a bumper crop of lettuce though. Saw at the farmers market down here they were getting $3 a quart sized bag...
Finished treating all the girls with scarlex oil on their legs... noticed some raising of the scales while I was dusting them with Sevin yesterday... Redusted the coop and brooder and realized how scrawny they all felt. I can see though after one week that unless it is my imagination their combs seem redder. Hope dusting one more time next weekend and I am mite free... I think trying to control with DE was just enough to keep mites at bay but not control their population...The production reds butt is still red and featherless, she maybe roosting in a spot that has more mites. Still can't pull the plug on the girl, though.
Have a great week everyone!

Hi guys!
Out of town all weekend for a wedding g. We sure are pooped put. The animals are good :) found Syd another Holland Lop. She loves her already!
Silkies are popping away ♡ I will never understand the way their colors work!
to the ones looking for hens we have a few Blue Laced Red Wyandotte hatched in January. Feel free to pm for details. My smart phone no longer allows me to post pictures here. So we would need to exchange #'s for that :)
TO your OE are also popping :)
