THAT WAS MY SECOND MISTAKE FOR THE YEAR.. THE FIRST ONE WAS MY TRYING TO PASS ON SOME HELPFUL INFORMATION..

I have to disagree with this one, Jim - One of my hens was injured by a pred and she was crazy skittish and paranoid for weeks. She wouldn't come out of the coop for over a week and when she did she would not walk past the area where the attack too place for months.

I think Jim was referring to healing only, not any chicken psychological effects.

I am glad to hear Jim, you only made 2 mistakes this year, but, then again, the years not over.....hope springs eternal.

Hello everyone,

Down a pullet tonight. She is wandering of her own accord. Looked, and cannot find her but it would be near impossible to scour 10 acres of prairie. So we will see if she is back tomorrow or not! Such is the way with livestock... I have to just tell myself I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

I heard a chicken cackling this morning.. IDK if she laid an egg or was just excited..
I don't have any laying eggs right now, so this would be nice if they are starting ..

I go out to the hen house, three/four times a day, cause one of my girls are cackling up a storm, I think they just do that to fool me, cause three of the four times-no egg. And, they make a racket.
