Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good nice summer day,
It took me forever to get onto byc..
now I am here, I don't have much to say,,
I still cannot get my pictures to upload/download or whatever..

I was going to have GS fix it when he gets home at the end of september, but now he says he is not coming back to wisc until november ..
the other GS moved to Appleton, so he is no help either.

I will give my DD Brenda a call , if she has time she might be able to help ..

that's if for now..

Stacy, awesome job!

Irish, I bought one of these years ago & never had a problem with it.

I also have a small heated water dish that hangs on the side of the cage but I don't know the brand offhand. It looks exactly like this one (I have had mine for over a decade).

I have also used the big metal heated dog dishes, which will fit a 1 gallon chicken waterer inside of it & keep it from freezing. HTH

Was so excited to share a picture of what I got done yesterday but this stupid thing won't give me the photo option again. I guess you'll have to wait. I didn't do any work on the house this weekend, but went over to one of my chicken friends and helped clean out an entire poleshed, camper and lean-to of all her grandfather's hoarding items. Saturday alone with 6 people it took 10 hours+ of hard work and another 8 hours Sunday but it's all done. I did get to bring home some goodies for the house, an old table I'll refinish for the kitchen, a kitchen base cabinet, tons of electrical wiring, plastic to wrap either the ceiling or walls with and many many tools to add to my collection.

I was dragging butt big time yesterday so didn't even get out to start working until 10am but I did get all the walls framed other than Anellias entrance as I run out of lumber again. I had just gone to Menards Sunday after working and picked up another 70 2x4's, used all of those and another dozen or so I had left from the previous trip. Today I'm either building the deck off the dormer or heading over to the barn to start tearing off tin and wood to bring home.

Tonight is the AI seminar in Eau Claire, me and some friends will be attending. I just want to hear what excuses the state has to say about things. I apparently in an email to Dr. McGraw asked some wrong questions as my email is banned from the state, and I wasn't even rude. Just must of asked all the wrong questions and not one answer to them either. I need this ban lifted or I'm out of business as far as the chickens go.

Thanks, CC, the heated bowl looks like a winner (though not cheap!)

Nice Afternoon to everyone. Yep, have one of the heated bowls too....thanks for the tip years ago CC!

Keep us posted as to what the seminar had to offer Stacy....I'm thinkin it will be talking to the ones with no knowledge mostly.

Grass needs cut again...what else is new, eh! Stupid lawn, I say.

Keep Havin Fun...bigz

good afternoon,

just taking it easy after taking a hot shower after butchering a dozen pullets..

these are truly some jumbos .. they hardly fit into my killing cone.. I am going to have to modify it before we do the remaining 21 .. we didn't weigh any yet, but I am sure there are more than one 6 pounder ..

I have so many pictures that I want to post, but I can't ..

I am going to try to finish my chicken plucker before we do the rest of the chickens..

the drum plucker works very well, but it requires me to hold onto each chicken throughout the defeathering operation.. gets hurting on the old back..

don't let anybody kid you,, these golden years suck..

Just a heads up for those that haven't raised birds before and are near the woods...Cooper hawks love to settle in the trees and simply pick their prey....it's worse when birds are molting and look smaller...perfect prey for the Coopers hawk...we have had 3 failed tries, due to our awareness and all the cover the birds have here. They can kill the chicken, but are not big enough to carry it away. Keeping a close ear for the rooster alert, is a goods head up to get outside...just sayin, is all..

bigz
