Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi All!

Short but interesting thread today.

I love hasenfeffer! Haven't had a rabbit for it in years! Matter of fact, the last time I made it, I shot the rabbit.

Night All!

to my knowledge, I never ate hassenpfeffer,, I heard a lot about it, though,

I went out for coffee this morning, then I stopped at Menard's.
hardly a parking spot to be found,, I went in and just looked around,, wasn't about to stand in line for a half hour to check out.
I will go back later next week..

had a free hot dog at Homdepo ..

have to rethink my plumbing layout,, nobody has all the fittings I need .. still have to check at F&F yet..

Happy hasenpfeffer day to all....we use to field dress all the rabbits we would harvest and hang them on the windmill braces for future use all winter long. It was cool to see all the harvest waiting for suppers to come.

Froze my butt this morning hunting...all I saw was Turkeys and more Turkeys...if we have a mild winter, the Spring hunt should be a good one.

Nice to see the sunshine and allow the fire to go out....prolly fire up later tonight.

So, had a great Thanksgiving here, spuddunked my Turkey and it was soooooo moist.....yummy. Thanks Jim for the advice on the light for chickens not laying, now I am getting 5-9 eggs a day. Eggarama here. So, I have a chicken, don't know which one, that lays a white egg, the double yoker I posted. Hasn't laid one since.....I don't know who is doing it as I was gone for the last two weeks. I thought it was a buff orpertin (?spelling). But have since found out that breed lays brown eggs, I have Marans, Reds, original birds from the neighbor who flew the coop, barred rock, wellsummer and deleware, I think they all lay browns, anyone know?

All breeds you listed lay brown eggs even the orpingtons*

What are the original ones that flew the coop?

good morning,
Firstchik, look at your chicken's ears.. little circles on their cheeks.. the color of those spots is a good indicator of what shade of egg they lay ..

not much new here.. loaned my blazer to DD#1 // she had it less than a day and the brakes and the starter both quit . both of my daughters drive their (any) cars hard.. like 40 mph right up to a stop sign and lay on the brakes.. then they wonder why they have to replace brake shoes twice a year..
