Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

bowled today,, team captain gave me a ball.. I was using the ally's ball.. the finger holes are spaced OK< but just a little too small for my fingers.. I will see about getting them reamed a little larger..
the first game was a 150, second was 120, third I didn't even break 100.. my thumb kept getting stuck in the hole.. It popped like a wine cork when I threw the ball.. sounded like a new years eve party ..

Frankie was all smiles when I just got home,, she has tipped over the wheelbarrow and was chewing on the deer legs..
Is anybody buying hides anywhere ? I assume they aren't worth much..

saw bro Dave at bowling,, he never saw a hair of a deer all season,, not much payback for 84 hours in a tree stand,,..

each one of his 3 sons shot bucks,. spike , spike, 8 pointer..
and one of their friends who hunts with them got a 6 pointer.,.
So 4 for 6 got their deer..

but according to Dave, it was a lousy year because he didn't get one,, LOL

balmy day here turned to light rain,,

Neighbor here trades a adult hide for good quality insulated deerskin gloves, and a small hide for quality deerskin gloves that aren't insulated....worth the effort to have great Christmas presents as long as you have to skin it any way. Fleet Farm is a ripoff for the pennies they offer toward expensive low quality gloves. Should be traders up by you Jim.

Here, the Lions Club has collection boxes out for donated hides. I don't know where they are selling them, but there must be a market. Years ago, I think it was in Eau Claire, we used to trade a deer hide for a pair of gloves at the fly tying place.

Morning All....cool idea bl4, never heard of it before. I'll give our local paper a heads up about it and they will put something in the paper for folks to learn about it. The small feedmill in Big Falls could use a extra customer dropping off a hide too! My neighbor that trades hides for gloves took in 1700 hides last year.

Down to Camp today to pull the mower decks and install the blowers...tis the season approaching.

We are 1 day ahead of you Bigzio. Dh pulled the mower deck off my garden tractor yesterday and hooked the plow up to the ATV last night. He didn't want the plow attachment to freeze to the ground again ...
The blower will go on the tractor in a couple of days.

I'm happy to hear you're on the mend! I hope the recuperation goes quickly and without problems for you!

We spent a wonderful, extra long Thanksgiving (Wed - Mon) with our daughter, Cate, in Chicago. Time always flies by so very quickly when we're there. Now it's back to mucking out the coop and the barn. The hens continue to be slackers and one of the younger hens has taken to sitting in an empty nest. Silly girl! Lights are on but nobody's laying.

I hope you all had a GREAT Thanksgiving also! Time to lay out the greens and deck the halls!
