Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Speaking of cast iron cookware...Last weekend I stopped at an antique mall and it seemed almost every booth had a cast iron pan with 'cups' in the bottom. I've seen these before and always thought they were biscuit pans but in looking at one closer I saw that the bottoms of the cups are round, not flat like a muffin or cupcake tin. Then I thought maybe they're for scones as I've never had one and didn't really know how they're made. After looking scones up online I don't think that's what these pans are for either. So anyone here know what they are? I'm guessing whatever is cooked in them would end up being almost round....maybe like a donut hole or oliebollen? But I think those are both fried??

maybe cornbread ? or muffins ?
the round bottome might make it easier to remove whatever is baked in there.

4/5 today, 5/5 yesterday.. a couple of these eggs are almost as big as duck eggs..

I closed the coop tonight, the wind is just nasT .

I drove up to Merrill this afternoon, the wind was just picking up. On the way home the road was getting pretty drifted in places..

Ebelskiver pan.

Jim, my apologies for not getting back to you. DD found some birds and fell in love with them.

I love that cast iron comes already seasoned; it is a royal PITA to season them, especially when you really have no idea what you are doing (pre-Internet). I found a set of pots complete with lids that also have wooden handles that come off at a yard sale. I think I bought the whole set for $20.

Ebelskiver pan.
Yes! Thanks BL4!
The bottoms on the one I saw were perfectly round but otherwise very similar to this one...

Daethen I agree. The next time I see one I think I'll get it. Might be fun for a weekend breakfast for the grandkids. Looks like a pancake batter with beaten egg whites folded in...seems easy enough.

Jim I thought maybe cornbread too but it just didn't seem right. I was actually looking for a pan more like this for biscuits or I thought I could use it for brownies and everyone would get a brownie with crisp edges.

Congrats on your egg take! My new flock just started this week Brahmas take forever to start laying. Did you lose a couple? I thought you had seven like me.

To those of you that raise chicks. How hard is it to get them to adulthood without losing them. I have never raised chicks, got my girls as layers. I want to add 5-8 more this year of some different breeds but first I don't want to buy a ton of every breed I want and second, I hate to buy chicks and then have them die. All advice welcome.

@Daethen
Where are you located? Well I know that you can order chicks right now from various farm stores as well as hatcheries.

Our first chicks we got last year we only lost one who was weak when got it. We didn't know to use quail waterers or put marbles in to begin with. The whole year the only other chicks we lost in brooders were three to Cocci. Still no idea how they got it, but now that we know these things it should be much less often to lose some unless they had an underlying problem to begin with.
