Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

The spot to the upper right actually looks like an umbilical cord and there is actually a blood line across the surface. Is this a blood spot? I've had spots like the one on the lower left before and know those as blood spots, but never had anything protruding from the actual egg like a growth. And no I do not have a rooster (that I know of at least)! If I have one, it's the world first quiet one!

Newbie question-So some of you are getting fertilized eggs without roosters? Sweet baby Jesus, how is that possible?

It has not been confirmed that this is a fertile egg.

as stated, there MIGHT be a rooster involved..

If it is a silent rooster, start collecting eggs for hatching immediately.. there might be a large market for silent roosters..

I am wondering,, how did it taste ?

OMG I laughed so hard reading these posts. Whichever hen laid that egg, shoul be named Mary II. Ok, so although I have 7 chickens...I never get 7eggs. But I am pretty sure there are no Roos in that coop.

Jim I did not eat the egg, I just couldn't eat the umbilical cord egg. If I do have a roo, I might become the richest chicken owner ever (and maybe the most oblivious too)!

Soooo, what came first ? the chicken or the egg ?
The chicken; and she didn't need no steenkin' rooster .

try to single Mary out and try to hatch some of her eggs.

My broody is still just that....broody. She hasn't left the nest in 4 days. It was the coolest thing today when I was in the coop. She ao carefully rolled all her eggs around and re situated them. The care a mother takes even before the baby is here is unbelievable. All you moms feathered or not are amazing.

Are your rabbits running around in the coop? Maybe you have the first genuine (cadbury) bunny egg?

Hi All!

Daughter came over today and cleaned her brother's carpet for me.

Birds are doing OK in the cold but glad it's going to warm up.

Night All.
