Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I have never medicated for worms either.
we butchered many hundreds and even would say a few thousand chickens and never found worms in any of them,

I had goats many years ago, and an old guy told me to feed them long cut tobacco for worms. like Plowboy if they still sell it.. I bought the cheapest tobacco I could find.
I never suspected the goats had worms, but they sure liked the tobacco..
don't feed it to milking goats, though.. the taste will come through in the milk..
If you are milking goats, don't let them eat randomly in a weed patch.. some weeds will make the milk taste bad, too.

I took the hanging turkey feeder and modified it today
I went on the drill press and enlarged the holes..
Now I think the chickens will be able to get their heads far enough into the holes to clean out the feed so that new feed can fall.

I also got some lumber rough cut for a baffle in the new feeder.
then company showed up and work was done for the day.

gotta take time out to socialize , eh ?.

I doubt Joel Salatin worms his chickens either. I know my mil never did.....

Looking forward to the warm weather this weekend! Too bad the MTB trails are still mushy, it would be nice to get the bikes out.

Looking forward to the bash: it is sneaking up on us!

I worm mine because they're always picking around in the horse manure. And those horses are real good at picking up parasites. Its best to take a fecal sample to the vet and have it analyzed. The cydectin is also good for mites and I have had an issue with mites. If you don't check your chickens, you'd never even know they had them.

We did have a problem with mites so that would be nice if needed again. what's the withdrawal for it? I would love to have some information to know what if anything to get for worms and/ or mites if needed again

Nice turkey, BigZ!!

Jim, your feeder project looks like a winner! Thanks for sharing!

woah, back up.. thanks but, today I tore it all apart and put a taller divider in it..

I just happened to come in to get the camera ..
I deleted all the former pictures from the camera.
NEW pictures are forthcoming .

I moved the whole operation outside, It is so nice out it would be a shame to work inside ..

here it is with 50 pounds of feed in it with about 4 inches to spare..

Kind of difficult to show depth . It is 15" deep ,
that angle cap on the divider is 12" from the bottom.

.

here it sets.
the hopper is 15"tall,
32" long ,
10 3/4" wide at the top,
12 " wide at the bottom
the troughs are 2 1/2" wide and 3" deep.
the slot at the bottom of the trough is 1"

now go build one ..

Jim, how many lbs of feed are on the ground?
