Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

If I've picked up anything about your ways I assume you've got a gun ready to rock at all times

I have plenty of them,
Only we have a group home, so I cannot keep one beside the door like I used to.
Got to keep the guns and ammunition separated and locked up.
With my bad eyes, IDK if I could hit anything anyhow.

Good to read that everyone is doing good. I talked to a friend of mine that is quite the avid hunter. He said he saw a fox grab a adult Tom Turkey by the neck and kill it...then drag it back in the woods...

Now that's something I wish he coulda caught on camera!

Some piping starting....I have my fingers crossed.

Yep Cind, the ads on here make my puter whacky...I have to wait for those to load constantly.

I am never bothered by ads on chzhds. I wonder why ?
what am I doing differently ?

I did a closer head count, I have 9 hens and a roo.
I had two die, so that leaves 6 missing .

awhile back on one of our walks across the fields, we came across a place where something caught a wild turkey,.
there were feathers everywhere. it must have been quite a struggle, but the pred won. all we found was a wing besides all the feathers.

Got the lime on the garden, did the final till and have most of the seeds in!!!!!! LOVE my dirt manicure. And there is plenty of room left for more seeds and the plants. Still have to put up the bean fence though. The baby chicks (which aren't really babies any more) are in the chicken tractor for the day and not sure of it. Been gorgeous out all day.

Lucky you's to the south of here...it takes a while longer here for Spring to feel like Spring here compared to you.

It was 34f here when I checked this morning...and the chilly wind made it feel cold.

I called a Tom for my friend yesterday from Fondy....he bagged a nice one...Now next week the pressure is on to call a bird for my daughter.....turkeys come easy mostly...except for her....dang...I'd give up every bird I ever shot to call one for here...it's never happened ever so far.... hunting is fickle at times.

Yeah it'll be a few weeks before I even think to put plants in the garden. I'm still tossing around the idea of building a few big raised boxes for the garden or trying to find a few old water troughs to fill with dirt and plant stuff in. They would even work if they had a few holes in them. Hoping to find something better than having the garden on the ground cuz my mom doesn't get around all too well. She loved gardening when she could do it and if I make a raised garden(s) she could do her garden at my house. I'm sure I'll find or build something in the next week or two.

Hi Ya'll
Got my babies all feathered out and in the chicken tractor in the garage. After it warms up, we will pull the tractor out to the yard. Had 26 and still have 26. Must have been a hardy bunch of babies as this is the first time we have raised little ones.

good evening, I just got home from a poker tournament.
(Texas Hold'em) I came in 3rd.

Firstchic, you sure have come a long way from when you first showed up here.. You sound so much more confident.

I have been researching planting in straw bales.
I have extra room for 40 bales. I will plant my normal garden, but I think I will also do a straw bale garden.

It will cost me $120.oo to buy the bales, unless I can find some for less than $3.oo/each.

I figure the straw bales will be more like a raised bed garden. I figure a person could sit on a chair and do the weeding and care .

it takes a bit more water to do the bales, but I have a good deep well.

Hi All!

Yep, I (and DH) have been trying to come up with a better garden plan too. I miss a garden, but it's been too hard to do. I was thinking that with straw you could throw some chicken coop compost on top and give it a good watering to get in down in the straw.

Night All.
