Rushed to get things in the garden with rain coming this afternoon..forgot to plant my kids cabbage plants...never planted cabbage...what will help them grow? Basically Bonny plants gave third graders cabbage plants to grow as big as they can. Then come summer they harvest the cabbage and take a picture and weigh etc and submit to Bonnie plants for a $1000 money for their college funds.

Well I am going to be getting less eggs for a little while... got rid of three of my mature birds and have 7 pullets in the coop that are 11 weeks old or so now...think I have two broodies... one walks around clucking but only will sit in a nest box at night (no change of eggs there) the other one is a maran that just sits and eventually crushes eggs... We are on vacation soon so dont really want her hatching anything...

So I think I am down to 9 big girls and my three bantam girls, tiny roo Drago ( he needed a fierce name) and then the 10 babies... 7 pullets and three boys I think...although may have found homes for one or two of those boys. Keeping the cochin boy for now...

Kids have soccer and baseball/softball still in gear so life is a little crazy right now.

good afternoon,

it took me until now to get on the internet. our supplier is having line troubles so we suffer..

this morning I dug quite a few hills/furrows .. got 6 rows of potatoes planted.. used up a little over 50 pounds of seed potatoes. GS Kalib helped me with that job.. In return I have to help him install a window air conditioner. good trade on my part.

this morning, I took Ollie and dragged the other garden again,, I will keep doing that until I get it planted.. it takes only a few minutes, but keeps the weeds from getting a jump on me.

It is supposed to rain at about 4PM today. I have a few corn seeds left from last year, If i have time I will put them in, if they grow; they grow, if not, I have fresh seed ordered that should be here by Sat..

have any of you ever hilled your sweet corn ?
If so, how high do I dare go ? I have never hilled corn before. I have only heard about it being done.

Had a busy morning so far. Threw another load of composted sawdust on our sandy lawn, cleaned out the shade house and moved 150 plants (mostly orchids) into it. Got the juvenile chickens moved into the big coop and watered the garden because mother nature isn't cooperating with my watering schedule. Now for lunch.

I do too which is why I have the greenhouse. But now I get to start my garden plants and they do well that way. Water blasted the entire patio this afternoon and raked out the sawdust for the yard. Soooo owie.

There is a guy in Larsen WI that sells HUGE amounts of orchids on Ebay, and some chickens on Craigslist

Hi ALl,

you can say what you want about the weather forecasters, but they hit it almost on the head today..

we are supposed to be getting rain at about 4PM. it is not quite there, yet. but at 3:45 it sure looks dark enough to be raining already .

I am so happy, I got all of my potatoes planted, and I also used up the left over corn seed from last year. I got 4 rows of corn with about 50 seeds in each row.
If it grows, it grows, if not, I have 2000 seeds coming from Jung in a couple of days.

I am so jealous of your composted sawdust. take all you can get and stockpile it.. you will never run out of uses for it..

Annie found a nest of eggs in the garage. 8 eggs in it. I knew the hen was going in there so I told Annie..

The goose laid another egg in the chicken coop today..
It will be going into the bator . she doesn't show any signs of broodiness.. she is well bred, though..

The thunder is intense in antigo. I love when the whole house shakes. Been getting 5-6 eggs out of 7 birds for the past week. Loving the numbers
