I could easily fit 20 dozen in yet. and if push came to shove, I could stack some of the trays and add about 20 dozen more..
If I didn't have the goose tray in there, I can fit about 500 chicken eggs in there.

does anybody here cut potato seeds for planting ?
Do you know of a powder that you can dip them into to help "heal" the cut ?

I read something about it a loooong time ago,, I think it was in a Mother Earth magazine. (before they became modern)

Well Jim I want your incubator! Lol DH has almost finished the one we're building and I've very excited wish it held 500 chicken eggs lol.

Also you have me an in and I hope I'm not breaking any rules doing this but we're headed to the west bend mother earth news fair this year in July and I know the livestock conservancy is going to be there. I'm not sure if there will be chicken breeds or not but if anyone is going or running a booth give a shout out. :)

Hoping to get some always welcome info on chickens among many other things and maybe hear about some wonderful DP breeds. Not that we need anymore lol

Chickendreams...need a new rooster? I am trying to rehome two of the teenagers I have. One is a gorgeous olive egger and the other is a beautiful Blue Andalusian...10-11 weeks old. Our vacation and rooster raising are interfering with each other so easier if we just move these two guys out! One other bird that I think is a girl but still not sure(olive egger) but these are the last two roosters to go.

Daerthen...great pic of your sweetie and hers!

Ok, I am exhausted. I pressure washed half of the house today and 3/4 of the deck. Planted 25 tomato plants after tilling that area of the garden. Built a flower box for my MIL and planted it and then the hubby brought me home a HUGE truck load of composted sawdust that I got to shovel off. We are trying to amend our crappy river sand lawn. All in all a very productive day and oh did that shower feel great!!

Daethen: dog, schmog. :p

. . .

So last night I didn't go out to lock up the coop until an hour after dark (shame on me). As I walked toward the coop, something took off running for the woods. Couldn't get a look at it. Whatever it was, it couldn't climb into the hen house but it found some stray eggs in the run and ate them. Fox, I suppose.

We have a neighbor who scared off the local coyote the other day @mophead , pretty sure he is more worried about our hens than we are, lol.

We worked until we couldn't see last night. Steve got the walls and the sheeting for the roof up on the coop, and I planted as much as I could. Out in the garden for just a bit this morning as it was sprinkling. Peas, beans, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, pac choi, okra, squash and cucumbers all in. Potatoes did get cut last night @jvls1942 so they are drying in the garage now. Root bed, corn and tomatoes will have to wait until we dry out a little bit. Oh well. I need to figure out what day corn I got as we will be gone in August for a week.
