Afternoon All..... Check your vines dae where they come out of the soil....could be cucumber beetles eating the vines....they can really be a problem with squash vines some years. Pumpkins are a squash and it happens to them also.

sprinkle some DE around the plants. I am not guaranteeing it will work, I am just now starting to use it myself, so I don't know all it will do.. but it did appear to do away with most of my potato bugs, so I think it would work on just about any bug.

I got another load of wood chips yesterday, and today, they were trimming the trees along my driveway and they promised me another load.

Oh yah, the tractor held enough charge overnight to start it a couple of times this morning, I am not going to relax just yet, but it looks hopeful .

I pulled out about 75 Jerusalem Artichoke plants today,
Man O Man, talk about an invasive species.. they had taken over about 1/4 of my rhubarb bed.. I didn't shake the dirt off of the roots, I am afraid there might be root fragments in it
These will not even go on the compost pile,, that's all I would need is to plant them all over the place .. to the burn pile with them.

Back home again..... Like the city but glad I do not live there! What a fantastic experience!!!!! I hope I made some great contacts and that this entire event was worth the cost.....

I was delighted to return home and find out I have ripe tomatoes!

Just sprayed off the weeds again all around the yard obstacles and around the house and driveway. I hope the stuff I bought works good. One of them sprayers of round up from menards is about 8 dollars or better for a gallon. I went to fs and got 2.5 gallons of bullzeye concentrate for 37 bucks. Should make about 50 gallons give or take. Time shall tell. Off to bed now. Adjusting back to third shirt is a real beach

Morning,
Two cups in and getting ready to head to town. Yesterday saw placement for two more beds, two loads of dirt and two beers when it was all done. Hoping to get another dirt load, one mulch load, asparagus transplanted and coupla built for the coop. Also need to make a run to Sams, out of toilet paper... If it gets too hot, I may just transplant what I have already dug up and call it good. Roots are so thick that they were choking each other out. Time to get moving.

I started Ollie up and hauled the dumpster to the end of the driveway,
On the way back I scooped up a bucketful of wood chips and dumped them along the south foundation of the house, (sun porch),,
went back for a second load and put Ollie away, grabbed the shovel and spread the chips.. got done by 9 AM< already too hot to do any more outside work.

It's hot out there, be careful.

Clouds are movin here already. Went down the driveway to check for yesterdays mail and discovered a large oak limb across the drive.....went back up for the chain saw, it was to heavy to move without blocking it up first.....all done, but you have to enjoy running a saw in this weather,eh!

Checked on the birds and they are panting already...gonna be a tough few days for them.

Got the coop dug out this weekend (found a bees nest in the process), weeded the garden and put the coop shavings in the garden as a mulch. We will till it all in at the end of the season. Peppers, squash and beans are doing well. The eggplant, cauliflower, broccoli, & brussels are growing well as are the two winter squashes, carrots and beets. I'll be planting the fall crop this weekend.
Bigz chick is doing great. Its a strong and adventurous thing. Not really afraid of much and is roosting already.
